Obama on Fallon: Secret Service Scandal Rooted Out 'a Couple of Knuckleheads'

Taping tonight’s appearance on “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” at the University of North Carolina, President Obama called the Secret Service agents involved in the Colombia sex scandal “knuckleheads.”

“The secret service, these guys are incredible,” Obama said, according to the White House pool reporter covering the taping. “They protect me, they protect our girls. A couple of knuckleheads shouldn’t detract from that they do. What they were thinking, I don’t know. That’s why they’re not there anymore.”

The show goofed on Obama’s student-loan focus this week, setting his “slow jam” about lower interest rates to a background singer cooing about “the POTUS with the most-est.”

In chatting with Fallon, Obama pinpointed a movie about redundancy as his favorite.

“I don’t get a chance to watch a lot of TV,” he said. “I’ll date myself when people ask me what kind of comedies I like; I’ll say, ‘Groundhog Day.'”

At one point, Fallon displayed a black-and-white photo of Obama as a college-age student. “Notice the afro,” the president quipped.

The conversation then focused mostly on student-loan rates and clean energy.

Obama said of Mitt Romney, “I’ve met him, but we’re not friends. His wife is lovely.” He said Romney “seems like somebody who cares about his family.”

Fallon joked that people who couldn’t get tickets to the campus-edition show included “students, professors, Joe Biden.”
