First of all, I have to dispute the Service Employees International Union’s assertion that “thousands” of supporters turned up Tuesday to protest efforts to deem ObamaCare unconsitutional on the Supreme Court steps. I was there. One end of the Supreme Court steps to the other, slightly past each end, almost to the curb, minus media and Tea Partiers, does not accommodate thousands. Hundreds, yes.
The union posted commentary about the event from SEIU Local 1991 member Norberto Molina, a nurse in Miami.
…The diversity of our group was impressive. It’s an American thing. If you are trying to advocate for a law that is for Americans, you want to look like America so that comes across to the people that see you on the street, as they drive by, or on national TV.
Our people out there today were a real reflection of America. The other side was not.
I realized over the past few days that I am pretty knowledgeable about Obamacare and I realized how important it is to pass that along, both as a nurse and as a union member. …

This will provide cover in thier hiring practices, they hired a genuinly diverse crowd to show up and met all government guidelines for Hiring Minorities.
Nice to know they won’t face a discrimination lawsuit from anyone who didn’t get the job of supporting O/care at the steps of the SCOTUS.
It’s all about skin tones to the left, isn’t it? That’s the only way they know how to measure a person’s worth.
the diversity i saw (just i some of the photos) were in the signs each side paraded
the anti-obamacare crowd had many handmade and succinct signs getting to the heart of the matter; nearly each person had a “different” sign
on the other hand
the bused in “support” for pro-obamacare all had the same spammed seiu blue sign and the lame pinko crap that gets peddled at any kind of gathering whether it’s occupy, anti-war, feminazi, gay-parade, et al…
– productivity will matter more than diversity.
Unity is another good word…. seems I recall a saying, yeah, something like “united we stand.”
Diversity: noun, plural
The state of being diverse, Variety, multiformity.
Diversity (newspeak): Noun
A method of forcing ideological conformity on an unwilling populace
I am not even going to argue on their ground anymore. According to data I just found in the 2010 census, the white population of the United States is 77% (69% if not counting Hispanic or Latino, 75% white alone). Is SEIU arguing that a decisive majority of this nation has no functional right to be heard unless some portion of a group he thinks gives legitimacy agrees with them? Because that seems to be the crux of his argument.
Would not this then mean that even if every, say, black person–or union member–in America agreed on something, unless they get sizable “diverse” elements from other groups their opinions not only can be ignored as illegitimate, but should be? For so he seems to be arguing. He might wish to rethink what he is saying. Until such time, I will regard him as the divisive demagogue he is.
