Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-NC) takes on Energy Secretary Steven Chu’s chops in this clip, which is from this week’s hearings on gas prices.
Secretary Chu comes off here as what he is, an academician who has never done much living and breathing in the real world of busting your hump to keep your job and feed your family. Every answer he gives to McHenry is either theoretical or infers a long-term solution to a near-term problem. The answer to McHenry’s main question — What has the Obama admin done to reduce the price of gas? — is not answered, because Chu has no answer.
Well, that’s not entirely true. Chu does have an answer. He just can’t say it anymore.
Who was it who said that “Democrats want Republicans to shut up and Republicans want Democrats to keep talking”? Seriously, those PAC “issue ads” keep writing themselves. Just keep running 30 second samplings of Chu’s mouth on autopilot and November is in the bag!

Arrogant and out of touch. Hey Chu, I can’t afford a new car, heck thanks to Cash for Clunkers I can’t afford a used one either.
Someone really ought to come up with a reality TV show that takes clueless liberal idiots like Chu out of the NY/DC beltway and drops them into the middle of Nebraska or Montana for a year!
That would be cruel and thus highly entertaining! I’d watch that show. You might want to put them in North Dakota (state motto: “40 below keeps out the riff-raff”) or the middle of Alaska (“you’re part of the food chain, and not at the top, either!”). Actually, the Alaska setting has been done a few seasons ago with “The Alaska Experiment”.
Didn’t Paris Hilton already star on such a series?
