Fluke Back on Capitol Hill

Georgetown law student Sandra Fluke will be back on Capitol Hill tomorrow to speak at a Women’s History Month forum in the Rayburn House office building.

Fluke made headlines when she spoke before a House Democratic Steering and Policy Committee hearing on the administration’s birth-control coverage mandate, sparking controversial comments by Rush Limbaugh and a phone call to Fluke by President Obama.

She’ll speak along with DNC Chairwoman Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz and Dr. Avis Jones-DeWeever, executive director of the National Council of Negro Women, at D.C. Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton’s (D) event.

“In a forum entitled ‘Opportunities & Challenges for a New Generation of Women,’ a congresswoman who has small children, a law student preparing for her career, and the leader of a major women’s organization will explain how women manage the new opportunities available, particularly to young women, today in education and jobs, while engaging in the other aspects of a women’s life, including raising children, dating, sports and making a full life,” Holmes Norton’s office said in the announcement.
