Nine Points: Was L’Affaire de Fluke Obama’s Tipping Point?
Or was it gas prices?
I’m tempted to believe it was the Fluke campaign — wherein an administration managed to violate the First Amendment, demand perhaps the silliest “right” in the history of leftism, and offend adult women by implying they have the priorities and life skills of a middle-schooler — and the subsequent call from Obama that allowed a flood of damning double standards into the debate, like a clumsy lawyer whose question allows back in evidence previously barred by the judge.
Obama’s lost nine points in a month, and gas has been climbing steadily, I’m not convinced $4.00 was the penny increase that sent one in five of his supporters fleeing.
I think it was Fluke, a K Street mistake for the ages.

i think it is all of the above
we are beginning to reach the territory of the left’s timeless fatal weakness – overreach- it is inevitable, albeit, painful
poor economy
rising fuel costs
rising everything else costs
pre-school lunch police
flukeing
elitist bubble worlds
los angeles porn police
ad infinitum
The Fluke campaign did work to bolster the left I think, and I’ve run into more than few libs who crow at how EVIL Rush is since he compared Fluke to a slut, even to the point they vehemently claim Rush should be removed from the airwaves (apparently the 1st Amendment is more of a guideline to them rather than right). I don’t have a large enough sample set to understand what motivates true Independents, but clearly if there is a big swing taking place it is the Independents doing it. I’m inclined to think it is gas though since that is the one thing that transcends the MSM’s cover fire being done to protect Mr. O. Or it could be that everyone is starting to get a clear picture of who is going to be running against him this Fall. Mitt vs. Obama is a match-up that people can understand.
My fear is that if gas went back down, all those in the middle will go back to saying “well Obama’s such a nice guy I’d vote for him despite x,y,z problems.”
The American people, aside from those in Congress and the White House, respect the First Amendment. The contraception mandate clearly violates religious freedom, claiming that “OK, the insurance company will pay, so it’s all good” defied logic, and the cluster-Fluke laid bare for the nation the utter contempt that the MSM and Democrats have for the people. The American people saw it all and were appalled.
But you’re wrong to call it the “silliest right in history”. The “right” in question is my right to stick my hand in your wallet for personal gain. The underlying issues were whether or not my very existence placed a Constitutional burden on you and whether or not the Mob has the “right” to take whatever it wants from whomever it wants. So far the nation has said “No”.
However, more troubling to me is the GOP. The Democrats and the MSM demonstrated, as they’ve done countless times before, that they’re clueless, inept and completely out of touch. Yet the GOP cowers in fear… which must mean that the GOP is even more clueless, more inept and more out of touch than the Democrats and the MSM. L’Affaire de Fluke was a standard clumsy, heavy-handed Democratic Party operation yet the best the GOP could do was muster their “Deer in the Headlights” staring and “fish out of water” mouth flapping. L’Affaire de Fluke should go on the highlight reel as to why it’s imperative to reduce the size and scope of Government and get the worst political class in history out of office.
I think the tipping point was coming out once again talking about how great the economy is doing while at the same time people are paying through the nose for gas. What the Administration doesn’t understand is that gas prices are a direct impact on peoples day-to-day freedom. People, American People particularly dont like infringements on their freedom, even when we agree is a good idea to do so.
In the 60′s they used to talk about a “Credibility Gap”. I think the “Credibility Gap” is now back with a vengeance. In the 60′s, it was an administration telling us that victory was just around the corner in Southeast Asia. Now its an Administration trying to tell us that everything is going just fine in the most broken and broke economy in 100 years, why look at these lovely numbers here on this here government produced report, and we all know that the government cant lie to us, that would be illegal right? so its got to be true, even though you yourself can refute the numbers with your own eyes
Since the start of this administration, people have lost the freedom to move, since the housing market has come to a complete and total stop. If you have a house, you cant sell it. If you want a house, you cant get a loan to buy a new one. You might want to move to another part of the country to take advantage of opportunities elsewhere, but you cant. Youre locked in. If you have property youre broke, if you dont have property, youre displaced and there is absolutely zero sign that this is going to change.
Since the start of this administration, we now partake in “Stay-cations”. Now, I admit that the first year it was kind of fun, but after three years, its starting to wear on us average folks. When you are staring into the vacation season and you know that gas traditionally goes up in May due to formulation changes ( thanks EPA! another free service from the Government!) and the uptick in vacation travel and you are now at $4.45 a gallon, you get the idea that sometime in May gas will be well over $5.00 a gallon.
Now you’re saying to yourself ” I guess were not going anywhere this summer”
Now, all while this economic house is burning down to the ground, the administration decides the most important thing to talk about is…
…Birth Control! Yes, an issue well solved several decades ago and Im so sorry to report that there is zero controversy in the minds of just about everyone because everyone knows that its accessible from any grocery store, pharmacy and school yard. The only controversial thing about Birth Control is when someone suggests that there might be too much of it given the negative population rate and the economic toll that brings to an aging society, but I digress…
Birth Control? Were talking about Birth Control Now? Right Now!
Is this Contrived? Staged? Political Theatrics? Transparent As Hell!
Gee, Ya think?
You know, politicians always want to run the Government, but we cant help notice that once in power, what occupies their mind the most is not doing the job we sent them there to do because in their mind, the job becomes their personally staying in power.
I still can’t get past the sight and sound of Geo. Stephanopulus asking about forms of contraception (from mild to extreme) OUT OF NOWHERE during an ABC-sponsored Republican ‘debate’ among candidates.
If that question didn’t come from DNC headquarters (or 1600, like there’s a difference) whence did it spring? And are we not still seeing it ripple?
The entire birth control issue was aimed squarely at the Catholic Church.
Now, I am not Catholic so I defer to anyone else with greater direct knowledge, but this attack brings to mind the old Stalin question (paraphrasing now): How many divisions does the Pope have?
Methinks O & Co. have really stepped in it now. I personally think they had long before this with the majority of the citizenry, but this time they went after an organization that has both resources and numbers on their side, and as such the evidence of the backlash was far more noticeable within a short span of time.
The other thing that is nagging at my curiousity is this: What would the unemployment numbers, inflation rates, and so-called ‘misery index’ look like now if criteria and methods as identical as possible to those of the 1976-1980 time frame were used as measures in the current economy.
Obviously not a straight match (computers have really changed a lot of assumptions), but if the results were bad enough to hand Jimmeh Cahter a 1 to 49 state loss in the 1980 election cycle, what would those same kinds of criteria tell us now?
Either way, Catholic reaction to an identifiable threat to religious freedom or a dismal economy in spite of rosy descriptions by the regime and media (but I repeat myself), things are bad enough that most should have awoken to the fact that Obungler has royally screwed over the country with his policies.
What a bright–and I think true–observation!
This season’s Wellstone funeral?
