Maybe Obama is Subsidizing Contraceptives Because in His America, Fewer Americans Can Afford to Leave Their Homes

Sky high gas prices are hitting the president where it counts: His approval rating.

Disapproval of President Obama’s handling of the economy is heading higher — alongside gasoline prices — as a record number of Americans now give the president “strongly” negative reviews on the 2012 presidential campaign’s most important issue, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll.

Increasingly pessimistic views of Obama’s performance on the economy — and on the federal budget deficit — come despite a steadily brightening employment picture and other signs of economic improvement, and they highlight the political sensitivity of rising gas prices.

Gas prices are a main culprit: Nearly two-thirds of Americans say they disapprove of the way the president is handling the situation at the pump, where rising prices have already hit hard. Just 26 percent approve of his work on the issue, his lowest rating in the poll. Most Americans say higher prices are already taking a toll on family finances, and nearly half say they think that prices will continue to rise, and stay high.

We were told that Barack Obama is a genius, a brilliant egghead combined with a first rate temperament who could create a perfect crease in his pant legs — with his mind. Well, that genius tied his own policies to high fuel prices for the sake of his far left politics with that “my policies will cause energy prices to skyrocket” interview. Then, he doubled down with the offshore drilling permitorium. Then, he tripled down by killing the XL pipeline. A brilliant performance, all around.

Presidents have generally had a limited role in the price of international commodities like oil, but this brilliant president has by word and action owned ridiculously high energy prices from the start. The former constitutional law prof doesn’t seem to have understood that the price of just about everything else rises with the price of energy, hurting Americans across the board. But he does seem to have figured out that high prices hurt his chances of re-election. So now we’re witnessing the spectacle of the leader of the free world subsidizing contraceptives and attacking the former GOP vice presidential candidate to distract from the economy and those prices at the gas pump that he owns.

Funny thing, though: That former veep candidate caricatured by the left as an idiot warned that electing Barack Obama would lead to a raft of bad things including high energy prices. And here we are. Watch the linked clip to see Palin rip the media for covering that clip up for several months.
