Last week the House Armed Services Committee heard testimony about the dozens of attacks on US personnel stationed in Afghanistan by members of the Afghan military and police. There have been 42 such incidents from 2007-2011 resulting in more than 50 deaths.

But as reported by USA Today last month, Pentagon commanders have implemented a policy of not publicly disclosing such deaths.

The problem has grown so significant that all US Army units in Afghanistan received today the following four-page “smart card” of what to do prior, during and after such incidents.
