Rounding out the top contenders for the GOP nomination (I don’t consider Ron Paul a top contender, sorry, Paul supporters), Rick Santorum has received an endorsement that might actually help him in today’s Nevada caucuses.
Republican presidential hopeful Rick Santorum has snagged an endorsement he hopes will help his struggling campaign just days before Saturday’s Nevada caucus.
Sharron Angle, a Tea Party darling and former Senate hopeful in the Silver State, announced her support for the ex-Pennsylvania senator’s 2012 bid on Wednesday.
Santorum’s “continuous opposition to Amnesty, Obamacare, the bail-outs, and cap and trade are a perfect fit with our main street Tea Party movement,” Angle said in a statement. “He is a strong fiscal and social conservative who stands on principles above politics.”
The big question is, will this endorsement–from someone who failed to unseat Harry Reid in Nevada in the big Republican year of 2010–move enough votes to help Santorum in the race for the GOP nomination?
Another good question, will this help Santorum shed his image of a big-government conservative in the Bush mold?

It would take a pretty die hard Tea Party supporter to pay attention to Sharron Angle. She was an incompetent candidate and not ready for prime time – not one of the TP’s finest hours. Reid was there for the taking and she blew it.
All the talk about Rick Santorum being so conservative misses the fact that first and foremost he is an establishment republican. This is why has he spent most of his efforts attacking mittens more Conservative rivals rather than eliminating the moderate to ensure that the nominee is a conservative. His campaign is all about being Romney’s stalking horse in hopes of being rewarded with the VP slot on the ticket or high ranking cabinet post.
1. Yup and 2. Yup
It was so nice to see Harry Reid back for 6 MORE YEARS.
