Drudge was right again. Despite numerous reports that Donald Trump would “hire” Newt Gingrich as his presidential candidate, he has picked Mitt.

And now for the “instant analysis” that everyone already knows: The Donald cares 99% about the The Donald. Ergo he wants to go with the likely winner so he can get his phone calls answered at the White House. So he picks Mitt.

(Sorry, I told you this was obvious.)

More obvious instant analysis: Is Donald’s endorsement worth anything? Not much. But it might have been worth more to Gingrich, who badly needs some free screen time.

Roger L. Simon is an Academy Award-nominated screenwriter, novelist and blogger, and the co-founder of PJ Media. His book, Turning Right at Hollywood and Vine: The Perils of Coming Out Conservative in Tinseltown, was re-released in an updated edition in 2011.
