Tonight on Sean Hannity’s Fox News program, Sarah Palin said this about the upcoming primary in South Carolina:
“If I had to vote in order to keep it going, I would vote for Newt.”
She did not formally endorse the former speaker, like her husband Todd, but this is still a big deal. Sarah Palin is still one of the most influential conservative public figures in America, and perhaps this can give Newt a much-needed boost heading into SC.
I have a feeling Newt is not finished, even if he does not finish first in South Carolina. He is waiting for Perry and Santorum to drop out so he can consolidate the conservative/anti-Romney vote. If that happens, he has a decent chance.

Even if Romney takes 50% of the SC delegates, he will still only have about 3% of what he needs to secure the nomination. This thing won’t be settled until early summer.
Didn’t Clinton have Obama “put away” by this point in the ’08 Democratic primaries?
So I have to ask, what exactly is she waiting for? Why not just endorse Newt? Why all the dancing around? Seems like a pretty easy call for someone who puts so much stake in standards and public leadership don’t you think?
Well, you know and I know one reason and She knows it to. It’s what we all know but cant stand to say, that for all Newts fine salesmanship, Newt just cant close the sale. The man is up one day and down the next and she doesn’t want to be on the wrong side of the roller coaster when he hits a dip.
I believe Sarah is waiting just a bit longer. I knew she was for Newt when her husband came out for him and rightly so. Here’s how it could play out-Perry will drop out after SC and throw his support to Newt. Newt and Perry are close on the immigration issue as well as nearly all other issues. After Florida, Newt will make a great secret offer to Santorum who is a highly capable man and would be great in any number of posts in the Newt administration. Santorum, a great patriot, will realize that he’s not going any further.
Romney, who I don’t despise, will find that now its him and his 30 percent against Newt with his 50 percent, with the remainder as a protest vote for Paul. Newt wins the nomination, destroys Obama, making him shrink even further in his empty suit and Newt becomes our next president.
The possible implications of Mrs. Palin’s advice she would vote for Newt in South Carolina not withstanding, Governor Perry is NOT in a position to throw my support to Newt!
I think Newt’s orders to Governor Perry and Mr Santorum to get out say a great deal as to his views on himself and his right to rule.
It has long been rumored that Santorum will be rewarded by the Romney camp should Romney be elected.
Mr. Gingrich lacks the types of experience and temperament I’m looking for in a President.
I will be hoping Governor Perry in particular will continue his quest for the nomination!
Anyone but Romney the white obama and the teleprompter in chief.
oh oh
This is going to explode the heads of the nose-ring conservatives who mindlessly accepted RoveRomney’s instructions to hate Newt, the anti-capitalist. Many them were nose-ring Palin fans before she dashed their fantasies. They simply aren’t going to be able to reconcile the conflicting programming.
