Sen. John Barrasso (R-WY) appeared on America’s Radio News today to discuss President Obama’s “recess” appointments, recess put in quotes because the Senate is not actually in recess. Hans A. von Spakovsky has noted that the Senate has in fact done business during the pro forma sessions, further weaking the White House’s argument that the president is allowed to deem the Senate in recess in order to allow him to make appointments without obtaining the Senate’s consent. Sen. Barrasso says the president’s actions will spark court challenges.

That’s all fine and good, but when do impeachment hearings begin? I’m sick of these perpetually offended men of principle who don’t take things to the proper level and do their jobs.
Yes, he’s a Senator and impeachment begins in the House, but it’s high time that this lawless president be reined in or he will reign over us with impunity.
I just e-mailed John suggesting that if he is that powerless, he should come home. Legal challenge? The damage is being done now. Who knows what selected court would decide.
If the massive vote fraud and cheating that will go on during the elections isn’t enough and a Republican does manage to win, you will be AMAZED at Obama’s list of pardons! The only genuine question will be: Can a sitting President pardon himself?
Blah blah blah. Over and over Congress (at least GOP) complain but do nothing, NOTHING!!!!! Grow a pair and do something!!!!!
Amen to that, David W! Boehner and McConnell are “outraged”! Their “outrage” and $3.50 will get you a latte at Starbucks, but that’s about it. Newt said it best during one of the so-called debates: “We can’t wait till the 2012 election to do something about what is happening in Washington!”
Unless we get a leader to pull the sword from the stone pretty soon, there won’t be anything left to save!
Obama is violating the Constitution. If he does so, I think we are under no obligation to obey the dictates of these appointments.
You know, I’ve thought about this, and while I don’t really know about the politics of the matter, I think as a matter of practicality that if Barack Obama wants to go through with this, he should be impeached by the House. I don’t say this in high dudgeon, just that when it comes to blatant disregard for the Constitution and laughable displays of sophistry in defense of the same, I’m not really a fan of those who attempt to see what the market will bear, and who expect to do so with impunity. I feel sort of like a dad when he says “it’s not that I want to, it’s just that you’ve left me little choice.” I definitely think that if the Supreme Court overturns these appointments then impeachment needs to happen.
I fully understand such an effort will go nowhere in the Senate, but the man needs to be impeached if he doesn’t rescind. Do I think it will happen? No. But it’s what should happen. I’m sure Axelrod would do a little victory dance if it was attempted but sometimes you just have to choose the path of integrity, make your stand, and let the chips fall where they may. If we don’t nip this kind of thing in the bud we will see more of it in the future.
I have got to be honest–I’m not sure this is a healthy republic at the moment, and we have got to find a way to get back to being one. The rules have got to apply to all equally or else you are a fool to follow the rules.
On a related note–I’ve always appreciated that Scott Brown of Massachusetts was a representative of the people of Massachusetts and not of Republicans nationwide, and thus always got a little irritated at the RINO tag (not least because I’m not precisely a Republican myself). But having said that, I think the GOP might want to ask Mr. Brown if he thought there was another caucus he might feel more at home at, and if he might not want to think about going there, since it seems he has some issues with basic principles of the party (or what I hope are basic principles).
That won’t happen either, but it should be what happens.
Fine tips! I have been looking for things like that for some time today. Regards!
