It goes back several years, when Paul slimed me in a speech on the House floor. I responded in several ways, and wrote it up for NRO, which has been kind enough to repost it. As you will see, his little sortie in neocon bashing is old hat, and a few of the comments (today’s) show that his acolytes have swallowed it whole.
Dangerous man. And never admits to error, apparently.

“I’ve seen so many open forums on usenet and web eventually fall to nutjobs or spam floods, very few survive unmoderated.”
(insert here your choice of disparaging remarks about LuapNor and Paulbots)
Good God Almighty, PJM is turning into nothing more than a collection of anti-Paul bots and haters, save for Richard Fernandez and Glenn Reynolds…aka the people who account for 90% of PJM’s traffic!
And Ledeen, you deserve to get slammed on the House floor.
And Fernandez kindly ignores your insane rants on his blog.
Let me elaborate — neocons deserved to be criticized on the House floor as they’ve learned nothing and publically regretted nothing since Iraq, with a few exceptions (maybe David Frum?).
http://thecable.foreignpolicy.com/posts/2011/12/28/obama_administration_secretly_preparing_options_for_aiding_the_syrian_opposition
Now they’re lining up to get behind a Muslim Brotherhood-led opposition in Syria. Isn’t that going to turn out just ducky for Israel, having these guys on the Golan Heights? Or are you so delusional Mr. Ledeen that you think that as soon as they throw out Assad and achieve power that they won’t start persecuting Syria’s Christians for allegedly supporting Assad (and perversely, plenty of Iraqi Christians who fled to Syria after the U.S. overthrew Saddam) and piling up rockets opposite the Golani Brigade’s positions?
Why are the people in your D.C. circles Mr. Ledeen getting in bed with the Emir of Qatar and perhaps even the Saudis to fund these ‘rebels’? Why does al-Jazeera not report that the rebels are massing at Incirlik and other NATO bases? Why do you stick your head in the sand and pretend Israel hasn’t been putting out feelers to Russia for the past few years as it starts worrying about a U.S. economic collapse, and a Washington that in some respects is more hawkish than the former Mossad chief? You pretend that doesn’t happen, I’ve seen it already happening in Moscow with plenty of Israelis working at Skolkovo.
You fear people like Russia’s Dmitry Rogozin, because he knows exactly how perverse these unholy alliances are, and how they’ll end up blowing back. You fear Islamists, but you want to play the great power game against your no. 1 adversaries China and Russia more. From personal experience I know just how nuts the likes of Jim Woolsey, Frank Gaffney, and all your other pals really are.
If I don’t unconditionally support Israel and have a close relationship with the Jewish Likud Party I don’t like Jews? Did I miss something or did you just shred yourself?
“I’ve written scores of articles and a good chunk of a well-known book, The War Against the Terror Masters, that explicitly defines military action against Iran a mistake. I want political action.”
This is why Obama obscenely protected the Mullahs and saved Iran for 2012. The winning base of support for Obama’s re-election will soon be on the moderate right after he flips the script and become Joe Obama, regular guy and patriotic hero. We’re going to be royally screwed after this, but that’s the whole point.

Now we get to the heart of the matter, and it ain’t Kirchuk’s sexual orientation or outrage over some twenty year old pamphlets Paul disavowed when lots of his right wing critics have appeared in worse publications. It’s about globalism. Just remember folks the sainted Ronald Reagan was endorsed by the John Birch Society in his run for Governor of California in 1968.
You mean the newsletters that Ron Paul overwhelmingly wrote, and whose “eight to ten sentences” out “ten thousand pages” he disavows.
At least this week.
There will be a new story coming in due course depending on how the polls report the reaction to this version.
Last comment here, and I’m tired of fighting PJM’s lies, made to a certain University of Houston professor:

You’ve been exposed repeating lazy falsehoods about Zerohedge, both here and over at PJM. You’ve spread rumors about them coincidentally at a time that they’re reporting on false re-hypothecation (pretending everyone owns the same gold a bazillion trillion times to keep the price of actual gold own), the CME, and a host of issues that could potentially affect your personal livelihood/consulting.
You’ve slandered/libeled hundreds of thousands of fellow Americans as potential totalitarians just this week, while claiming their rhetoric lends itself to violence (i.e. all Ron Paul supporters should be locked up, RP fans are like the Khmer Rouge, etc etc). You’ve failed to denounce your most extreme commenters including vorobey while demanding that Ron Paul trawl through the millions of pro- and con-comments against or for him on the Internet, a few of which might happen to come from bad types, as does the FDD’s James Kirchuk. You are in short, a hypocrite who cares more about the lack of freedoms in an oligarchic system abroad than here at home.
My work here is done.

Gentlemen! I too have been a close observer of the doings of the Bank of the United States. I have had men watching you for a long time, and am convinced that you have used the funds of the bank to speculate in the breadstuffs of the country. When you won, you divided the profits amongst you, and when you lost, you charged it to the bank. You tell me that if I take the deposits from the bank and annul its charter I shall ruin ten thousand families. That may be true, gentlemen, but that is your sin! Should I let you go on, you will ruin fifty thousand families, and that would be my sin! You are a den of vipers and thieves. I have determined to rout you out, and by the Eternal, (bringing his fist down on the table) I will rout you out!

Yep, your work here is done alright.
Thank you, Bryan.
Translation: WAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!! You don’t like who I like! Meanies!
Given Andrew Jackson’s history of racism and disrespect for the Constitutionally guaranteed rights of minorities, he is certainly an appropriate person to be quoted on Ron Paul’s behalf.
Awwww. Is the poor widdle Paulbot being ridiculed and laughed at?
You damn betcha.
What’s it like to be dumber than the Occutards, Paulbot? Inquiring minds wish to know.
“Is the poor widdle Paulbot being ridiculed and laughed at?”
You’d think they’d be used to it by now.
At the very least, Ron Paul shouldn’t be in any position where he influences foreign policy. He is living in a fantasy world.

Good for NRO, and good for you. I’m not sure how much I agree with the viewing with alarm about Ron Paul that has taken hold, but I dislike him, so it’s a good thing.
Actually the Syrian National Council is rather broadbased, it would have to lean Sunni, because unlike the Alawites they are a majority, however unlike with Bel Hadj and Yumu, two major figure in the Libyan action, they don’t lean Salafi.
