Elizabeth Warren Doesn't Know What She's Talking About

Karl Rove’s Crossroads GPS is running this ad in Massachusetts, slamming Democratic Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren for claiming to be for working people while really supporting big government, specifically shaping how the Obama White House spent the TARP bailout money.

Warren’s response: Attack Karl Rove.

“Karl Rove is not telling the truth, and I think anyone who is not telling the truth shouldn’t be running ads in this race,” she told the Herald. Warren has said she supports negative ads from outside groups so long as they are telling the truth, while U.S. Sen. Scott Brown has said he believes all outside groups should stay out of the race.

“Karl Rove was part of the inner circle when President Bush pushed for TARP bailouts,” she said. “Now he’s using Wall Street money to attack me for being too cozy with Wall Street? I was calling out Wall Street over the TARP bill from the beginning.”

The Boston Herald doesn’t fact check her on that, but the truth is that Rove left the White House in 2007. That’s a year before the TARP was under discussion. He wasn’t part of Bush’s inner circle at that point.

So, on her attempt to counter attack, Elizabeth Warren scores a FAIL.
