Herman Cain Still Getting More Media Vetting than President Obama

The Hill and the New York Times both lead today with stories about Herman Cain’s tenure at the National Restaurant Association. The Hill reinforces the story about the accuser who wants to step forward and accuse in public, while the Times says she got about a year’s salary in her settlement/agreement/whatever, not the three months that Cain claimed on Monday.

Somewhere out there, there may be a drug dealer who remembers a skinny young man who used to buy cocaine on the streets of Chicago. That young man is now the president, and we know nothing about that period of his life. The media hasn’t bothered to look into any of it, who he bought from, how he supported his habit, any of it. The same media that’s hounding Cain today left John Edwards alone for a year while he depended on major Democratic moneybags to cover up his love child. Jon Corzine is benefiting from the MSM’s lack of standards today too. Can you imagine a Republican former governor and close associate of the president getting such a kid-glove treatment for what may be a $900 million fraud?

Fair? Obviously not. But it’s the world we live in. And the GOP’s nominee had better be prepared to deal with attacks like the one Cain is experiencing, and a whole lot more next summer.
