George Soros Owns Gun Companies?
A few days ago, I got this email: “Mr Nemerov, I thought you might be interested in this.”
The message claimed that George Soros has taken ownership of many firearms manufacturers through his shell company.
For the last several years a company called “The Freedom Group” has been buying up American gun and ammunition manufacturers.
Some people worry that Freedom Group is going to control most of the firearms companies in the United States. Of course, If you control the manufacturers you can decide not to sell to civilians, or, you can raise the prices to ridiculous levels or you can make the supply of guns and ammo scarce – all sorts of logjams.
What a perfect way to control America’s guns!
If you do some digging you will see that The Freedom Group is owned by a Wall Street investment company called “Cerberus Capital Management“.
“Cerberus” in the epic book “The Inferno” by Dante Alighieri, is a three-headed demon hound (from Roman mythology) that guards the Gates of Hell to prevent those damned souls who have just crossed the river Styx, from escaping back to the world.
Investor GEORGE SOROS owns Cerberus!
Larry Keane, Senior Vice President of the National Shooting Sports Foundation, had this to say:
You’re asking me to proof a negative proposition. I make it a policy never to debate crazy people. Life is too short. It is sort of like the utterly and demonstrably false internet myth of S.B. 2099. Anyone who really believes George Soros owns the Freedom Group is likely a “prohibited person.”
The National Rifle Association stated: “This rumor is completely false and baseless.” The NRA has a long-standing relationship with both Cerberus and Freedom Group, noting: “The owners and investors involved are strong supporters of the Second Amendment and are avid hunters and shooters.” Further, Soros has never been a part of either group. Most importantly:
This unsubstantiated rumor has caused a great deal of unnecessary concern for gun owners. NRA-ILA urges our members to take great care before repeating baseless rumors found on the Internet.
Here’s the crux of the matter. People send these emails around like manic ping-pong balls over the internet, never bothering to check if they have any basis in fact. Five minutes with Google would have disproven this theory to anybody possessing cognition and a little will.
Unfortunately, there are those who prefer to rely on others to tell them what to think. For those people, there’s always Dancing with the Stars.
For the rest of us, guard your Liberty closely by keeping your powder dry, eyes and ears on, and your brain engaged.

A couple of seconds on Snopes.com would have debunked that story too.

No need for panic. Even if the wildly unlikely scenario were true, Soros would control the supply but not the demand. That demand would be filled in short order by some New American gun company formed for that very purpose. If there is money to be made, someone will make it.
( I sure wish Winchester would bring back the ’94…..)
Update; The gunshop where I hang out ( it is a social club with free coffee ) just called. They just got a winchester big-bore 94 375 win, as new, in the box. I will be on my way there momentarily.
Gotta remember, everything you read on the internet is true!!
/s
People, wake up.
I was kind of hoping it was true. That way the Brady Bunch would stop sueing gun companies for a minute. Or at least hesitate before sueing to make sure its not one of her antigun buttbuddy’s companies. Since most of her funding comes from antigun companies and not individual donations or membership fees.
A gun grabber would risk loosing millions by scuttling a company just to take guns away from law abiding people. I think George Soros owns a little bit of H&K guns because they do all the things mentioned above that a company would do to restrict and annoy their customers.
You think? If you do, how about providing a citation?
I think it was a joke about H&K’s treatment of non-military and LE customers. Google (I think) “H&K – because you suck and we hate you”
“Cite”
” to quote by way of example, authority, or proof ”
http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/cite
On the internet, an easy way would be to provide a link. Otherwise, it’s still just an unsubstantiated opinion. This is a perfect example of wanting somebody else to do the work to prove or disprove. Do it yourself and be free.
He owns Janus, the two faced god. So what do you expect?
“People send these emails around like manic ping-pong balls over the internet, never bothering to check if they have any basis in fact”
Even more people read only headlines or just the first few paragraphs but not the whole article. You have inadvertently helped spread this false rumor buy not starting out with your conclusion and by using an ambiguous title for your post.
With thousands of Headlines and news hitting the web every second – how does one discern ‘truth’ versus ‘lies’ versus ‘rumors’? Each spread across the web with just a touch of ‘truth or lie’ to make it interesting?
1 – Soros is very rich and capable of just about anything.
2 – He is a world wide player.
3 – Snopes has been wrong before – and could be manipulated in the future by someone – someone like Soros.
4 – I read headlines about 200 times to every 1 story I actually read. I would bet the general public is about the same. – You should make an editorial Law – no sarcastic or mis-leading headlines. (like this one)
Heh. If you and your twin brother whatsywhitsle (#6) knew anything about internet publishing and research, perhaps you would have used your real name. In any case, it’s about search promotion. Since this rumor is flying around now, people search for various words. Putting them in the headline helps draw readers.
Next, notice that little squiggle thing after the word “Companies”? That’s called a question mark. Any decent researcher begins with a neutral question, then gathers data to determine the answer. I prefer readers to do the same.
Reading headlines 200 times for every story you read? Maybe you’re on the computer too much.
Wait, so Soros doesn’t own all the guns in America? Is the Brady Bunch still on TV? Are those poor castaways still on Gilligan’s island?
Well, back in the real world, either Chaz Bono or Nancy Grace gets voted off DWTS Tuesday.
Oh dear – the cats want to watch The Price is Right on TV. brb…
