New “Sorry Everybody” campaign: Apologize on Obama’s behalf to the President of Mongolia

Remember the “Sorry Everybody” campaign during the Bush era in which Americans were encouraged to apologize to the world for having such an idiot president?

Well, time for an update. As we noted yesterday, Obama embarrassed himself — and, by extension, the rest of the nation — by holding up his hand and blocking the face of Mongolian president Tsakhia Elbegdorj during a photo shoot at the UN:

So far, the White House has not yet issued a formal apology to Mr. Elbegdorj. So let’s take the matter into our own hands and apologize ourselves!

This page allows you to send emails directly to the Mongolian President:

Since Obama won’t apologize for his gaffe, we must apologize for him.

Please use the form to write a respectful letter of apology to President Elbegdorj, explaining why you think Obama felt it necessary to insult the leader of a sovereign nation.

…And of course, feel free to re-post your apology letter here (just like in the original “Sorry Everybody” campaign)!

  1. I feel so much better! Here is what I wrote:

I want to apologize to you for what Obama did to you in the recent photograph. Many of us are aware that our president is totally narcissistic and thinks only of himself — never considering the impact of his actions on others.

I promise you that we will punish our president for this by electing a new president next year!

I hope that will be satisfactory.

    Kindest Regards,

    Ron Robinson

    Dear President Elbegdorj:

I apologize for President Barack Hussein Obama’s rude behavior in putting his hand in front of your face in a recent group photograph.

President Obama is a rude, ignorant, selfish, and thoughtless person. So were we, as a people, for allowing him to serve in public office in any capacity. Even though I did not vote for him, I take responsibility as an American citizen, and I apologize.

How would an ancient Mongol leader have dealt with this?

    • Sam

      Mongolia -> Kamchatka -> Alaska -> Western Canada -> Western U.S. -> Eastern U.S.

      Risky, but doable.

      • GDI

Absolutely priceless. Thanks, I needed a laff.

      • Jeff H.

Sam, awesome. Subtle but brilliant. hahaha

        • Jeff H.

In fact, Sam, I’d contend that its not risky at all, really. The Mongolian Army can march down the streets of most American towns as long as entitlement checks still go out.

      • skh.pcola

        @Sam: +1

    • Larry J

Easy. Obama would’ve pulled back a stump.

I’d pay a dollar to see that.

    • Misbehavior or rudeness on the part of diplomats or foreign leaders was greeted with massive retaliation.

    • Lavaux

Looks to me like Obama’s wristwatch is missing.

    Dear Elby:
You don’t mind if I call you Elby do you?
I know you’re probably a bit put off by Ol Barack’s wave yesterday. But hey buddy! It’s OK. You came out fine in all of the other photos, riiiight? And besides, in the photo with the wave, you were *probably* blinking anyways and this saved you humiliation and embarrassment, riiiight? And after all, you were standing RIGHT NEXT TO HIM!!! Could you smell his aftershave? (That’s when you’re REALLY living, let me tell you!) Oh what a thrill just to be present!
You, sir, are a lucky man, indeed!
    -Your friend, Joe

    • Someone

hmmmm… i’m sure you didn’t send this e-mail. But if you did then you really are stupid. maybe some people will understand this joke. But these people don’t have the time to read your ridicules joke. just think about yourself and what people might think about you!

      • Someone Else

You obviously didn’t get the joke either.

      • Joe Biden

You know, something tells me that someday someone is going to be somebody. I’m not just saying that. And I’m not kidding when I say that.

But seriously, I’m in a fortunate position, here. You think I was making light of Barry’s cologne? Ha! Not at all. Elby is a lucky man to be that close to the back of Barack’s hand. I know, I get it all the time.

        • Barack Black Obama

if you was in the 13th century you already dead!!! BUt 21th century is not different! Thank you!

        • kjafljaf;

          Shut Up!

    This is mine:

I am so sorry that our doofus of a President embarrassed us by holding his hand over your face in the recent UN group photo. I very much regret the fact that he has ever been allowed to represent us in any way shape or form.

Please accept my apology on behalf of all Americans.

  6. 6. Kent S. Siegel

    Dear President Elbegdorj:

On behalf of all the peoples of the United States of America, I would like to extend my sincere apology for President Obama’s rude and unforgivable behavior in putting his hand in front of your face in a recent group photograph.

Most Americans are deeply respectful to guests of our nation, particularly foreign heads of state. President Obama is an embarrassment to our people, and will soon be gone from office.

Despite my not having voted for him, I take personal responsibility as an American citizen, and I apologize.

    Respectfully yours,

    Kent S. Siegel

I thought your email was great and I used it, but added a bit.

      Dear President Elbegdorj:

On behalf of all the peoples of the United States of America, I would like to extend my sincere apology for President Obama’s rude and unforgivable behavior in putting his hand in front of your face in a recent group photograph.

Please also accept our apology for the further disrespect the President is showing by not extending an official, public apology himself, but you must understand what some of us knew before he was elected and what now most of my countrymen now realize: Barrack Obama is a Class A Narcissist.

Most Americans are deeply respectful to guests of our nation, particularly foreign heads of state. President Obama is an embarrassment to our people, and will soon be gone from office.

Despite my not having voted for him, I take personal responsibility as an American citizen, and I apologize.

    Dear Mr. President:
I want to apologize for our doofus President, Barak Obama. It won’t happen again.

  8. 8. Harold P

Sir if you look at it this way it may possible afford you some relief.

By Obama blocking out your face you did not have to shown in a phote with the “in his own mind” the leader of the world and the rest of the leaders in the photo are his cabinet. Why else should he be the center person in the photo?

He probably insisted on that position.

Again we citizens of the USA again have to apologize for this politician.

  9. Dear Sir:

I’m so ashamed of Obama’s rudeness to you in the group photo. Since Obama spent his first year in office flying around the world apologizing for the actions of the United States I’m amazed he’s neglected to take the opportunity to apologize personally to you. Thus, I extend this offer of apology for the action of a president who is self-centered, narcisistic, totally incompetent, unprepared, overwhelmed and let’s face it, just acts like an impudent child. Hopefully, his term of office will end with the 2012 elections and the United States can once again have a respected leader.

    a concerned American

  10. 10. valerie

An unfortunate photograph showing the President of my country, the United States of America, with his hand in front of your face. Because his office has failed to comment, it falls to me, as a citizen, to extend an apology on his behalf.

This picture in no way indicates the reality of your country’s standing in the world, or its relationship with the United States.

  11. 11. McGehee

    We’re so sorry, President Elbegdorj
We’re so sorry but he’ll be gone from the stage one day
    We’re so sorry, President Elbegdorj
But unless something weird happens he will have to go away

  12. 12. Nobama

    President Elbegdorj:

As an American citizen, I wanted to personally apologize for the backhanded insult paid to you by President Obama. We are sure you know politics like the back of Obama’s hand, but just in case, we’d like to remind you that he isn’t very popular right now and will probably be looking for a new gig as a community organizer soon. So, we’ve got you covered, and just wanted to let you know that this is Bush’s fault for having left Obama in this situation.

One word of advice to avoid this awkward photo in the future: try standing on the President’s left next time. If he still happens to take a swing at you, don’t go for the classic kick to the balls. He doesn’t have any.

All things considered, you faired well. Your hairline will be replayed on right-wing TV for the rest of his term, and Al Gore’s internet ought to spread your ears from here to Timbuctoo. Everything except your face will be eternally engrained in all of our memories.

    With open hands,
    An American Citizen

  13. 13. Buck O'Fama

Obama’s staff (and likely Moochelle and his royal self) are probably thinking the Mongolian person should apologize to Barry for covering the curtain’s view of the back of Barry’s illustrious hand. Nuance, people!

  14. 14. GDI

Brilliant, Zombie. One little point: where’s the CC? I’d love for everyone to be able to copy the Obamatron on their emails.

Four more years? Everyone raise their hands

  16. 16. Ganaa

I am surprised. I think he thought only himself there. He is looking very rude! He should apologize from our country’s president.

  17. 17. T

I am a citizen of Mongolia. I personally do not think either of the two presidents have better things to deal with at the moment (we all would like them to).

    Cheers,

  19. Right, because spamming a world leader with messages, a huge number of which are guaranteed to fail at the sarcasm that is so difficult to convey well in text, is going to make the situation berrer.

Look, I think 0bama is as evil as anyone does, but where’s the context for the supposed gaffe? A picture is *not* worth a thousand words. Not even close. For all we know, right before that picture was taken the photographer said, “Mr. 0bama? I can’t pick you out through my viewfinder. Could you raise your hand for a moment please so I can frame this shot?”

Really, this “issue” is like claiming someone is illiterate because he made one typo in a live internet chat stream. There are far, far better and more important matters on which to criticize 0bama.

    • Jeremy D

Are there far more important issues to criticize BO? Of course.

Is your explanation plausible? No, it is not.

You’re confusing symptoms and causes. No one (save you, it seems) is suggesting this is anything more than a symptom or evidence of BO’s unfitness, not a fundamental cause or disqualification. It is, quite literally, a snapshot of his presidency.

  21. 21. DSH

Right after saw this pic I was annoyed. Now I feel much better. You guys really really do concerned about your president’s behavior. After all it’s not just issue between Obama and Elbegdorj. It’s whole US and Mongolian diplomatic issue. Even Obama didn’t officially apologized for his act, you Americans made apologize so I, citizen of Mongolia forgiving Obama.

    • Zombie

DSH, thanks for stopping by! We Americans truly are apologetic for our president’s behavior. Most Americans greatly respect the Mongol people and are embarrassed by this incident.

I also deeply admire President Elbegdorj; he liberated Mongolia from Soviet oppression and should be more well-known as an international hero. Thanks to him Mongolia is now a free country and not like North Korea or Burma. It’s a shame that most Americans had never even heard his name until this incident; hopefully now he will become more famous as a champion of freedom.

    Dear President Elbegdorj:

I would like to apologize on behalf of President Obama for what was perceived as a slight during yesterday’s photoshoot. Mr. Obama was simply requesting to go to the bathroom and had unfortunate timing. In the future, we hope that Mr. Obama can complete his personal business before the photo shoot.

  23. 23. citizen of Mongolia

Mr. Elbegdorj deserve to get Obamas hand on his face. He promised to fight corruption, tax evasion, air pollution, poverty, high crimes (one of the his mentor and leader was assassinated in 1998, the case is still open) but he is doing nothing, except traveling unnecessary trips, wasting tax payers money and getting Mr. Obama’s hand on his face.

    • Mgl citizen

  42. 42. Mongolian

Since I’m Mongolian, I’m really angry about this rudeness of Obama! Maybe you can cover the face of our president, but you can’t disparage us, the people of Mongolia that descended from the greatest invader that ever walked the Earth!
I will not forgive you… but thanks to people who had apologized. I appreciate it.

  43. 43. Rosemary

I must confess that I am rather ignorant about Mongolian politics. My sorry excuse is that there is so much going on that I can’t keep up with it all. Therefore I did a quick search of the web to learn what kind of man this President Tsakhia Elbegdorj might be to inform myself. I find that he is remarkable, apparently very intelligent, compassionate, and courageous. I’m sure there are issues he and his people differ over regarding policy and implementation, but after my admittedly I came away with a respectful impression. In fact, I have far more respect for President Tsakhia Elbegdorj than I do for the current president of the U.S. It grieves me if our president was in any way, intentionally or unintentionally, rude to the remarkable Elbegdorj.

  44. 44. Rosemary

Apologies for my grammar and punctuation errors in my previous post. Some days I just don’t proof very well.
