The streaming video of today’s anti-capitalist Day of Rage in Manhattan requires that you watch a fifteen-second ad before the video starts. Mine was for Toshiba notebooks.
When the ad finished and the video began, the player ran a continuous pop-up ad for Blue Cross Anthem Health Care.
Ever watch the X-Games, where the “counterculture” snowboarders have a sponsor label on every item of apparel?

My, how times have changed

Absolutely classic.
Nope, friends don’t let friends watch X-games.
– the rope we will use to hang them.
Bwahahaha! Good one!
And their parents used to go around singing “I’d like to teach the world to sing”–the Coca-Cola song. LOL!
Haha!
Seems that Toshiba has a bit of a history with espionage on behalf of the Soviets.
I’m old enough to remember reading about this and getting angry.
#6: I not only remember that — I haven’t bought a piece of Toshiba equipment since, for me personally or for my business.
In the 1980′s Toshiba sold propeller milling machinery to the Soviets. This made the Soviet subs a lot quieter – putting our fleet at risk – including myself. (I served on ballistic missile boats). Reagan had strongly urged Toshiba not to do this. They did it anyway.
Toshiba is on my permanent “no buy” list. Just like GE.
It’s like the Communist retailers who want you to buy their wares, but will be upset the minute you swipe property from them.
Or the museum in LA that honors “street art”, but won’t allow the artists to demonstrate their “art” on their walls, ceilings and rooftops.
No more “Steal this book!”?
