Another 10 minutes, another fresh batch of outrage from this lawless administration. The latest, Labor Secretary Hilda Solis:
New “partnership” agreements that U.S. Labor Secretary Hilda Solis signed with a number of Latin American nations are aimed at protecting both legal and illegal workers in this country by educating employers and workers about health, safety, and salary laws, reports CNSNews.com.
Solis’s comments at the signing ceremony Monday contradicted immigration law, as defined on the Labor Department’s own website, CNS News found. Solis said all migrant workers possess a “right to a legal wage,” while her agency’s website states that “employers may hire only persons who may legally work in the United States . . . and aliens authorized to work in the U.S.” under the U.S. Immigration and Nationality Act.
The first sentence in that second graph should be read again — the cabinet-level official’s comments contradict the law, and given the state of things today, the cabinet secretary’s comments supersede the law.
“No matter how you got here or how long you plan to stay, you have certain rights,” Solis said. “You have the right to be safe and in a healthy workplace and the right to a legal wage. We gather here today to strengthen our shared commitment to protect the labor rights of migrant workers in the United States. Unfortunately, due to language barriers and immigration status, migrant workers can be those that are most vulnerably abused.”
Writing posts about these actions day after day, I’m running out of words to describe this bunch. It’s evident that despite the hollow rhetoric about pivoting to jobs for the umpteenth time, President Obama and his lieutenants are hell-bent on destroying our economy and systematically erasing what it means to be an American.
So, we can’t gyp people we hire illegally… not that folk who hire people illegally would care.
Ah, this is actually very subtle attempt on Obamas part to solve the problem of illegal immigration. Once illegal aliens have to be paid the same wage as Americans employers will have no more reason to hire them instead of Americans. Problem solved.
Except of course that the illegal aliens will still come for the free medical care, free food stamps, free education, and free welfare benefits. But other than that, a perfect solution to the problem…

The reason illegal immigration has a negative impact on wages isn’t the illegality of it as such. It’s the addition of MORE WORKERS to the workforce that depresses wages. Same thing happens even when we import legal workers. The more workers with much the same skills, the less ability any worker has to negotiate for better wages and working conditions.

Between all of what you are writing about, combined with the fact that Obama and the Congressional Black Caucus appear to be engineering some sort of race war against Americans who identify with Tea Party sentiments. This adminstration is a complete joke. If you are working as an independent contractor where there are alot of illegals working; its exempt under the I 9 from the proof you have the right to work here. We had one company change contracts on us so we would sign one that says we are a US person what ever thats supposed to mean while at the same time; have one guy who the company knows has people working under him and they dont check on his people and another one; the new wife from Thailand who wasnt handed a green card when she got married yet she too was working since day 1.
These people take work and reduce pay from the citizens and legal residents who are also doing this work and they have rights???

The question is, will there be enough citizens voting next fall to offset the votes of the illegal aliens?
Actually, illegals generally don’t care about US politics, and generally don’t try to vote. It’s the American leftists who register as Jose Martinez and Pedro Valdez about 100 times in 100 places who we need to be watching. I’m a lot more worried about organized mass fraud than a few illegals, who would rather keep a low profile.
I kind of doubt that that type of vote fraud is prevalent anymore, given that it’s fairly easy to spot.
Instead, watch out for padding the growing absentee vote, which requires no picture ID or physical presence, and denying the vote to the military, which tends to vote heavily Republican. Holder’s DOJ gave a wink-wink to the blatant violations of the law by states in 2010 which required military ballots go out far enough in advance to get them back in time for the count.
Someone did an analysis of the races that the military vote might have changed the outcome of in those states that flouted the law. There was at least one governorship, a couple senators and a lot of congressmen, which meant that this could have made the landslide in 2010 even bigger. And that didn’t include the effects on state and local legislative races.
It’s just disgusting that the left would deny the vote to the very people who fight and die for their right to be free. Just sickening. But the left has no sense of shame.
The DOJ, as reported right here on PJ, also refused outright to enforce the law that the states purge their rolls of the dead and other ineligibles. Who knows how many of those voted?

You’re not worried about a ‘few illegals’? Maybe you’re not aware that there are somewhere between 13 million (government numnber) to more than 20 million (my best guess) illegal aliens here.
Also, more than a ‘few’ have been found to have actually voted in local, state AND federal elections.

Bryan – You miss the important experiment in economic theory regarding the minimum wage that can be conducted here. Most thinking economists will say that raising the minimum wage leads to unemployment of people who otherwise would earn less than the minimum. Krugman-types deny the verity of that point. Indeed, some years ago Krugman made a with an NBER paper purporting to show the opposite (with appropriately cherry-picked data). Well, here the Secretary of Labor says illegals should have a living wage. Why doesn’t she use the opportunity to get a bill through Congress to raise the minimum wage for illegals for any job they may take to $100.00 per hour, plus 100% covered health insurance, plus $25 an hour for a 401K, plus whatever it costs for a million dollars of life insurance, auto insurance and home insurance. When all that has been passed, let us wait a few hours to see how many are unemployed and start heading back to wherever they came from.
I am in the payroll and workers’ compensation industry. I have seen the wages of legal US workers go down when the participation of illegal immigrants goes up in a particular field.
Twenty years ago, a roofer made between 15 and 18$ per hour. They were of all races, and with that pay they could afford to be middle class. (They made between 32k and 40k a year houses cost well under 100k.)
Today, roofers are now making 10 to 12$ a hour and many times are not even covered by workers’ compensation insurance.
E Verify would help 20% of our workforce rejoin the vanishing middle class, immigration enforcement should be a winning issue for any party.
IF ONLY…well elect a new Senate and President, then we can get some protections put in place…not til the bozo’s gone will things improve

I am not a business owner, but a few years ago I had storm damage to the roof of my home. I called my insurance company and they said the would do all the coordination for the repairs, that day an appraiser came out and wrote up the appraisal, two days later a man from a company called “Roof One” showed up to put a new roof on my house claiming that the insurance company had contacted them. When the roofing team showed up, there was a foreman (Caucasian) and 8 other men, all Hispanic, I really didn’t think much of it, and allowed the work to proceed, they did the job and departed. The man in charge had made many promises of how the work would be done and the clean up would be completed. They completed the work and left. They picked up the visible debris, but I was cleaning nails out of my grass for weeks after they left, as well as reattaching loose shingles, other people in my neighborhood were also hit upon by this same bunch, and they were not so fortunate, as one neighbor told me, the next windy day they had, half the roof disappeared.
I researched and discovered that this company had a track record of hiring illegal aliens to do their work and that they were also “storm chasers” (less than top quality repair teams who run around the country looking for areas hit by storms and often committing fraud) as they did with me, when they claimed to have been sent by my insurance agent. My agent later told me that he has not contacted “Roof One” but had sent a local roofer to do the work, but the local guy was intercepted by a person from “Roof One” and informed that the contract had been cancelled.
For my part it is a lesson learned, in future, I will review every contract worker personally, and if I even suspect anything unusual, they will not be allowed to work for me. Oddities such as a Caucasian in charge of an all Hispanic work crew.
I will demand papers on everyone verifying legal status, and I will reject any worker who does not meet my standards.
Illegal aliens may, by word of Obama’s underlings, “rate a living wage”, but I retain the right to hire those whom I trust. At least until Obama decides to revoke that freedom has he has others, like the right to have the healthcare I choose.

What abouyt the millions and millions of ilelgal trash working under the table earning close to $100 thousand a year and still illegally collecting all the many bennefits offered by the corrupt liberal government. I had a similiar experience with a roofer. I paid top dollar, made it clean “no illegals” no Home Depot pickups, very clear. There was one Hispanic supervisor who spoke some English. Now granted that did not make anyone legal or illegal, but you can tell professional roofers from people who have been picked up for the day and you can tell professional business people (supervisors) from one who has been picked just because he could speak some English. I called the office of the roofing company and reviewed our agreement. No illegals, and no Home Depot pickups. I paid top dollar to support an American company with American workers. He just said “prove they are not in this country legally and I’ll do something about it.” I will never do business with this company again. Everytime it rains I do a survey looking for leaks.
Actually as as citizen and a small business owner who is hounded at ever corner for more money, more taxes and more regulations, I’ve pretty well had it. I’m loosing respect for our laws. They only seem to apply to the people who care and the others, well they do as they please without consequences. If you are here illegally and are a relative of the President, how can we help you? If you come in from Mexico and might vote Democrat with false ID, how can we help you? If you are born here, oh goodie, where is the Medicade office and even though my state is literally broke, in the red, how can we help pay for your college you wonderful new Democrats. Meanwhile my Grandson can’t get a place in college, has to take a higher cost program on-line and will be burdened with student loans the rest of his life.
My Grandaughter was hired for a job and then fired because she didn’t speak Spanish. She is Mexican and the hiring person “assumed” she could speak Spanish. My Daughter who is Caucasian could not find a low paying job anywhere, literally anywhere for 3 years. When she used her Mexican married name, of course the offers for an interview were abundant, but when she arrived and looked white, so sorry, the job has been filled.
Hope? Unfortunately as hopeful as I usually try to be, there is little. When over 45% of the people in this country live off the backs of the other 55% and a 20 plus million (and counting) pour into this country for the freebies and our President and Democrats can’t wait to give them more money, more programs, more lienient versions of the law, of course Obama will be voted back in.
