President Barack Obama will take a three-day campaign-style bus tour through the American Midwest this month, as he tries to refocus attention on jobs seen as vital to his chances of winning re-election in 2012.
The president will be on the road between August 15 and August 17 “listening” to the American people about jobs and the economy, White House press secretary Jay Carney said.
Heh, even Reuters doesn’t think Obama will do any actual listening — that’s why they put “listening” in quotes. He’ll be “listening” every bit as much as he has been “leading,” and the economy under his watch has been “humming.”
By which, I actually mean, dying.
This bus tour should be fun. When Obama gets out on the road (and away from TOTUS), he tends to say things like “spread the wealth around” and accuse Americans of being “bitter clingers.” So maybe we’ll get a few new one-liners to use for next year.
