This is terrific! Justin Folk – who does the brilliant backgrounds on my Klavan on the Culture videos at PJTV – has won the 100-thousand dollar Powerline Prize for dramatizing the debt crisis. His wonderful video: “The Spending is Nuts” took the honors. Among other things, this means Justin will now be paying for lunch! But seriously, no one could deserve this more. The guy is both wonderfully talented and a decent humanoid, a combination that doesn’t come along all that often.

Congratulations to Justin Folk. This is great news. Having seen some of the brilliant competition, it is all the more gratifying to have come in first, since the others were amazing. Kudos, kudos, kudos!
Justin now is like a squirrel with many nuts. A couple titles come to mind for his sequel
Btw, Justin also edited a few of my Talking Through My Hat vids when I was less lazy and still doing them.
I watched the squirrel video yesterday, and didn’t make the connection with Justin. He has a real gift for being whimsical and smart in a way that enhances, rather than distracts from, the message.
I’m particularly amazed at the almost-lifelike renderings he does of ‘Andrew Klavan’, the main character in many of his videos on PJTV.com. As you watch it, you’re thinking “there’s no real person like this,” but Justin very nearly gets me to suspend disbelief and to say: “Yes, but there could be an ‘Andrew Klavan’, if only you’d believe.”
