Debbie doubles down: DNC chair says 'we own the economy'

It’s more a case of “you broke it, you bought it,” but whatever.

Democrats are ready to take responsibility for the state of the economy and they deserve credit for putting it on the right track, the party’s chairwoman, Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, said on Wednesday.

“We own the economy. We own the beginning of the turnaround and we want to make sure that we continue that pace of recovery, not go back to the policies of the past under the Bush administration that put us in the ditch in the first place,” Wasserman Schultz told Mike Allen at POLITICO’s ‘Playbook Breakfast.’

I swear, the first time I saw the headline a little while ago I thought it was a rehash of her earlier remarks about turning the economy around. But nope, this is new material. She does have a point. Democrats policies from the stimulus to ObamaCare to the EPA to the NRLB to their green push are costing us jobs. The oil drilling permitorium cost jobs and inflated the price of gas, which inflated just about everything else. Pushing ethanol drives up the price of corn. Their loose lending policies at Fannie-Freddie helped collapse the economy in the first place. Their open borders stance depresses wages among the lower skilled set right now.

Yup, Debbie, you own that. All of it. But while your party leader keeps getting richer, the rest of us get stuck with the bill to pay for it.
