Dallas Mavericks, NBA champs

A little consolation for the Laker fans in the PJM house: Your team lost to the champs.

After trailing 0-1 and then 2-1, the Mavericks shocked the NBA by winning three consecutive games to win the world championship.

“Yes sir!” Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban screamed as he danced around the Heat’s court with a championship hat slammed tightly around his brow. The Heat celebrated its first championship on the Mavericks’ court in 2006. The roles reversed, the Mavericks accepted the Larry O’Brien Trophy in front of a mostly empty arena Thursday. Dallas forward Dirk Nowitzki earned The Finals’ MVP award.
