Texas state Representative Trey Martinez Fischer (D-116) authored HB 2752, which would empower a political party’s state executive committee to remove county chairs, which are currently elected and removed by local elections. Fischer’s top-down approach implies that voters are too incompetent to be entrusted with managing local representatives.
It also means that county chairs will be beholden to their state executive committee, not constituents.
Fischer’s official biography says he’s “a rising leader in the Democratic Party,” and “chairman of the Mexican American Legislative Caucus.” It’s curious that he labels himself Mexican first and American second.
Mexico also has a top-down political approach. After President Calderon declared war on the drug cartels, Mexico’s murder rate increased. Curiously, Mexico’s political leaders are all Blancos (European descent). (E.g. presidents Calderon, Fox, Zedillo, Salinas, Madrid.)
When I used to vacation in Mexico, Blancos managed the resorts. Light-skinned Mestizos worked behind the desk and occupied jobs where employees interacted with guests. Dark-skinned Mestizos performed maintenance.
Fischer’s 2010 NRA grade was B-, which for Texas is as bad as an F. Gun control is inherently racist in its outcomes.
Now, I’m not saying Fischer’s racist. Perhaps it’s just coincidence he:
- Wants to impose political cronyism that has kept Mexico’s Blancos in power.
- Supports gun control policies shown harmful to minorities.
Tell your legislators today to vote NO on HB 2752.

Vote him out of office and get it over with
I’m with you, Saul. Fischer ran unopposed in 2010. Why?
Howards got a full time job just tracking all this garbage!
I wish I had a job as cool as his.
Surely this Dem bill is DOA in the Republican legislature?
You would think so, RC. But read what’s happening to David Simpson, and Rs are in favor of more government.

Wow, just so this and was amazed to find one of my favorite State Representativs and conservative stalwart is a joint author, Leo Berman. May be we should vote him out of office too! Something is in the water in Austin.
I’m cutting all the BS out of my life I no longer call myself a Blank-American anymore. I dropped the hyphen and now I’m just American. My life hasn’t change one bit because of it either. I just sound less arrogant.
Good for you, David.
I’ve begun using the term “Americans of African descent” in some of my reports, like when I’ve covered how states with more gun control have higher black homicide rates and lower white homicide rates (gun control is racist). We can honor people’s traditions and heritage while at the same time supporting each other as Americans in pursuit of life, Liberty, and happiness. I believe diversity strengthens America (within the framework of the Bill of Rights and Constitution). I’m tired of getting ‘enlightenment’ rammed down my throat, as if I am second class because of being male and my Caucasian ancestry.
I have never had anyone with enough courage to tell me, because I am white male that I am not only a racist but can be discriminated against because of my race. And I can’t do anything about it because I would be a racist. People who push these ideas hide behind a keyboard somewhere safe from having to answer for their actions. I say its racist against white as if it was against blacks themselves and race baiters are nothing more than cowards.
What a collection of pointless innuendoes.
Martinez Fischer is a member of the “Mexican-American” caucus. Nemerov implies disloyalty or something because “Mexican” comes first.
Well, I remember Mayor Daley (the first) leading the St. Patrick’s Day parade in a shamrock hat. He was always referred to as “Irish-American” if anybody brought it up. So were Mayors Kennelly and Kelly, and for that matter President John Kennedy. New York Mayor Fiorello LaGuardia was “Italian-American”; so is Rudy Giuliani. Former Maine Senator (and Sec of State) Ed Muskie is “Polish-American”. Gee whiz.
When referring to immigrants or their descendants, it is absolutely customary to write -American. Nemerov knows this; he’s being dishonest to imply that it means anything about Martinez Fischer.
Then he goes off on a rant about alleged racism in Mexico. What does that have to do with Martinez Fischer and the internal organization rules of Texas political parties?
Then there is the hyperbolic title of this post. Even by Nemerov’s description, this bill will not change the democratic election of public officials in Texas. Nor will it change the democratic election of political party officials in Texas.
It will allow a state party chairman to remove a county chairman. Well, no, actually it doesn’t. It allows the state party chairman to recommend that a county chairman be removed for “incompetency or official misconduct”, after which the county chair gets a hearing before the state executive committee. The state committee then votes whether to remove the county chair from office.
(Here’s the text.)
This is what Nemerov calls “imposing the political cronyism” of Mexico?
This is what he considers “destroy[ing] the democratic process”?
This is what he says is such an acute danger that phone calls to legislators are required?
Rubbish. I’d bet that Nemerov has some hidden agenda here. Possibly some friend of his is a county chair who could get removed if this bill passes.
And PJM shouldn’t let this sort of slime through.
For somebody who alleges innuendo and hidden agendas in others, you sure reserve the right to apply them yourself. Nice.
Rant about Mexico? If the truth fits, wear it.
Hyphenated Americans? You used Mayor Daley as an example? A corrupt political machine front whose gun control policies resulted in increasing Black homicide rates and decreasing white homicide rates?
It’s real simple to me: Either you are American or you aren’t. These hyphens are a PC way to lie about your loyalties, while promoting policies that serve your special interest group.
Perhaps I touched a nerve, and your anger is just projection?
