More Bad News (Egypt)

Two men involved in the assassination of Anwar Sadat have been released from prison.  Mitigating factors:  their sentences had been served, and the military promises to keep them under surveillance for five years.

Well, that surveillance business is worthless.  It’s what governments promise when they intend to let the bad guys escape.  These two were members of Islamic Jihad, whose top guy at the time, Ayman Zawahiri, subsequently became Osama bin Laden’s #2.

Sweet dreams.

Well, it’s understandable that there might be some people who are optimistic about Egypt.

What is shocking is that some of them are more than 15 years old.

The absolute best case is a new military dictatorship.
