From Tom Coburn’s GAO report on government waste and duplication, there are “47 programs offered, 44 of which overlap with at least one other program” just for job training.
Why do we have even one?
But let’s imagine that somehow Congress manages to eliminate all 47, despite hoots and hollers from Democrats and the media (but I repeat myself) about all the poor, untrained-Americans who will suffer from GOP/Corporatist blood-thirst. Money saved: $18 billion — or about one-half of one-percent of the Federal budget.
We’ve got a loooooong ways to go, folks.

Job training for what?
The reason they use Green jobs as the great nirvana is because they can’t point to one other trade that needs people. If they talk about Green jobs, which no one knows what they are, they can be all hopey changey and the unconscious and little old ladies will think they are accomplishing something while they train them for nonexistent jobs that don’t materialize or there was actually no specific training for.
If Congress can’t find 500 billion here then we can come 2012.
We elected them for just this purpose, now it’s time to pay the piper!
Green job training programs train people for jobs that are green on the outside and are red on the inside.
Heck, it would save each and every citizen about $55.00 a year forever, that has got to be something, right?
I am sure there are hundreds of similar wastes of money, find them all and I would have enough extra cash to be able to buy a new car; that would help create jobs (as in real jobs) as well as real taxable income.
