Via Bankrupting America, what looks like some good news in the US Senate:

On Tuesday, Sen. Claire McCaskill (D, Mo.) joined Sen. Bob Corker (R, Tenn.) in unveiling legislation to reduce both discretionary and mandatory spending to 20.6% of gross domestic product.

But I got sneaky on you, and put the period in early. Let’s read the whole sentence:

On Tuesday, Sen. Claire McCaskill (D, Mo.) joined Sen. Bob Corker (R, Tenn.) in unveiling legislation to reduce both discretionary and mandatory spending to 20.6% of gross domestic product over 10 years. [Emphasis so obviously added.]

It’s going to take ten years to get spending down to the percentage of GOP it was just three years ago? Keep in mind, please, that we could get that result with zero spending cuts. Just freeze spending and, eventually, the economy will grow relative to the size of Washington. But today, merely that seems bold to a Republican like Bob Corker.

That’s what Obama/Pelosi/Reid did to this country in 24 short months — and don’t you forget it.
