Just saw Jeanne Moos do one of her whimsical, feel-good little reports on CNN. This one was about the signs at a pro-Mubarak rally. In a tone that invited us to find the whole business charming, endearing, and amusing, she drew our attention to misspelled homemade signs and to signs being held by small children (or, in one case, hung around the neck of a pet cat). One of the signs depicted in tight close-up in the report featured a picture of Mubarak, and viewers paying close attention would have noticed the Star of David scrawled on his forehead. But of course if Moos had pointed out to that nasty little detail, she’d have failed in her effort to give viewers a warm, cozy feeling about the demo and its participants. So in good CNN fashion, she pretended it wasn’t there.

This is what they call balanced coverage, it shows in pictures something that contradicts the words spoken. Seriously.
Thanks to Bruce Bawer for pointing out the ‘un-dangerization’ of CNN= the Clinton News Network, is it, or perhaps Completely Nutty Narrative? We Norwegians have some solid experience with our NRK – the channel of renown as regards ‘soft-filtered news’…
Mubarak has maintained a peace treaty with Israel and considering Israel’s ongoing murderous racism against the Palestinians all these years – the vast majority of Egyptians regard that treaty as being complicit with Evil. So, how exactly can it be considered “anti-Semitic” to depict a stooge of Israel with a star of David scrawled across his forehead? The star of David is the symbol of Israel, is it not? But, a clear majority of Jews do not adorn themselves with a star of David, do not identify with Israel. Liberals, moderates, and conservatives all have no use for Israel and its symbols. The scrawl? Okay, it’s anti-Israel. So what? But, anti-Semitic? No f***king way.
Except that it’s the Arabs (the “Palestinians” among them) who have exhibited “ongoing murderous racism. . .all these years” towards the Jews (Israel, in particular), and certainly NOT the other way around, you might actually have a point. The moral confusion of those Jews, however many or of whatever political stripe they may be, who do not identify with Israel is no excuse for yours.
As to Israel’s supposed “ongoing murderous racism,” you might check out how much electricity, fuel, food and other goods Israel provides to Gaza on a continuous basis, not to mention medical care to those who need special procedures unavailable in Gaza. You might also take a look at the sentiments among Arabs of East Jerusalem, who fear what will happen if the Palestinian Authority gets control there. They clearly would prefer to remain under Israel’s care.
what possibility is there that arabs who have been forced to blockade palestinians in order to maintain peace with israel would see the star of david in anything but a negative light.
its just normal and nothing to panic about. the Egyptions have alot of other things to worry about besides be a problem to nuclear israel. can Christians show love towards the arabs a little seeing as there are more christians in egypt then in israel.
how can a semite be anti-semitic.
its israels fault they put it on there national flag. if there flag had a frog on it, mubarak would have had a frog on his head.
