The Tatler has learned that the chi chi Republican Capitol Hill Club has bounced Rep. Michele Bachmann from its premises, forcing her to find another place to deliver her State of the Union address reply on behalf of Tea Party activists.
A Tatler source tells us Bachmann originally had been approved by the club’s management to give her broadcast live to the nation. But they reversed themselves yesterday, forcing the Minnesota congresswoman out into the cold. One source has alleged to the Tatler that “Republican leadership pressured the Capitol Hill Club” to close off its facilities.
The Tatler contacted the Capitol Hill Club to confirm the story. However, a club executive who did not identify himself said the only one permitted to discuss the issue was Stan Lawson, the club’s general manager. “Mr. Lawson will not be available all day for comment as he is very busy,” the executive told the Tatler. A follow-up call directly to Mr. Lawson so far has not been returned.
For decades the Club has been a welcoming refuge for many out-of-favor Republicans on Capitol Hill. It’s web site says, “From its inception, members of the Capitol Hill Club have included the nation’s most influential people — Presidents and Vice Presidents, GOP Members of Congress, Governors, state party leaders and influential Republicans everywhere. We invite you to be among them.”
Apparently the invitation does not include Rep. Bachmann. Instead, she will deliver her address from the National Press Club.
Update: The Capitol Hill Club responds here.

Which only proves, just how important it is to remove the ‘old guard’ Republicans,…McConnell, etc.
These elitists are no more friend to the average citizen, than the Dems.
Stirring up the Old Guard, indeed.
She should find a good tea room owned by normal grassroots Republicans.
She should go over to one of the money printing offices and do her speech from there with the printing presses furiously rolling in the background so she makes a good point of how fast we’re going into the hole.
Seriously, now the Establishment won’t have anything to do with her after she and Palin and the TEA Party were instrumental in getting them a 600 plus seat win. A win they fought us tooth and nail on. And she was fine when it was time to fundraise. Now, she has Conservative germs.
Well to hell with the GOP establishment! 2012 is coming and we can send more of them home. Meanwhile, they can have date night with the Democrats for the speech and look like fools. Looks like we’re going to have to carry the party and the Conservative values on our backs again for the next two years.
The Republican Party establishment still doesn’t get it. I am a Conservative, Independent and supporter of the Tea Party Movement. I did not expect the leadership in the House to rest on the shoulders of John Boehner and the minority in the Senate to be under the leadership of Mitch McConnell. I expected new and credible Conservative leadership to mirror the results of the November election.
I believe that Michele Bachmann typifies the future of the Republican Party or a conservative party that replaces the Republican Party. As it is now, I believe that the Republican Party is irrelevant.
This doesn’t surprise me, the same people who remained totally silent following the Tucson shooting while the loony left smeared every single conservative, showed just how much backbone they have. Frankly, I think they enjoyed, and probably supported the leftist smear operation. All the “old guard” needs to be retired. They would rather see 0bama reelected in 2012 than have a conservative candidate, such as Palin, win. They are afraid that a real conservative being elected would mean that their power would be gone, and they wouldn’t be invited to all the A list cocktail parties, and they might have to go out and get real jobs.
Hey, me and my buds at the Capitol Building yesterday while beginning our walk to our bus to travel home from the March for Life, walked right next to Michele Bachman in a little compact car. She was in the front passenger side talking into her cellphone with a young male driver. They stopped the car at the vehicle barrier to check it out for stuff.
I pointed to her and said, Hey, isnt that Michele Bachman? She looked back over her left shoulder and waved to us.
Cool. A real servant of the people. Good luck with your TPM reply to the SOTU drivel from Chicago Jesus.
I’m involved with the TPM and became a Republican about a year ago to vote in the primaries.
The GOP establishments behavior, including not supporting TPM candidates for Nov., not defending conservatives accused of being mass murderers, and now this, makes me sick.
We need a new party. I believe rebuilding the GOP to something honorable is still the best option. But if they keep this crap up, I’ll have to go third party for my conscience’s sake. I’m not going to hold my nose and vote for the lesser of two evils again.
