“Bitter Political Crankery”: Yes!

January 21, 2009 - 3:02 pm - by Ron Rosenbaum

Thanks to my friend Charlie Finch for sending me this link from The Weekly Standardwith the memorable phrase from Jonah Goldberg:

“bitter political crankery”.”

I think that phrase just about sums up the small-minded, barely disgusied bigotry of some of the commenters here. Just happens it’s directed agasint a black President? Just hapens that they can’t bear to find any relevance of the history of U.S. racism?

Bitter political crankery: it’s too bad there are so many non-bitter, non-bigoted conservatives who have to suffer from being associated with these types.

A complete lack of adressing the questions posed is not an effective form of argument.

No reason put forth Ron, just venom. Wow! You just won me over to your point of view.

I will quit wasting my time here and go back to the Belmont Club, Mr. Fernandez is rather more insightful and chooses to disagree respectfully when others demonstrate a difference of opinion.

You still have not answered any of my questions, you might have been able to make your point if you were not so busy being mean-
    spirited.

Have a great time talking to Charlie here in the echo-chamber, he seem to be the only other person reading your posts,

  2. I’d say that someone who takes this occasion to make repeated blog posts telling all Americans they should feel guilty about slavery is engaging in “bitter political crankery”. Perhaps someone who posts four nasty personal attacks on Jeff Jarvis may be indulging in “bitter non-political crankery”.

Or perhaps just trolling for hits.

Anton is right: You don’t make points, you just cast insults. There are more intelligent writers on this site, and I think I’ll spend more time with them.

  4. I guess I’m a majority, then.

I guess you have no sense of irony.

Wow, five posts in a row of shrill attacks on the few people who read your stuff. And no attempt at all at reasonable arguments to address those who disagree with you. You’ve got problems.

    I’m outta here.

    “Bitter political crankery”.

Yes, very witty. I guess the oppostite to that phrase would be “blind political Obamasexuality”. This would be appropriate for those that refuse to even consider that Obama is capable of erring and that any concern or criticizm of him could only be motivated from the bowels of racism. We all know “these types”. Some run blogs.

  8. We really are headed into overt censorship. Equating any white person, that says they don’t like Obama, to the likes of a “racist”, child molester, or serial killer, is the Mentally Short-sighted Media’s attempt to disenfranchise public comment, and qualify themselves as the final administrators of discourse. These liars think they have exclusive rights to the first Amendment?
