A Note to Israel: Try Rachel Corrie’s Accusers
Because Israel is holding a trial tomorrow about Rachel Corrie, discussed today in PJM by Lenny Ben-David, I thought it appropriate (while I am preparing a blog on another topic) to call attention to something I wrote a long time ago about Corrie for PJM.
The article may be found here. In this blog, I call Corrie an “Endless Martyr for Anti-Israel Hatred,” which she is indeed. If anything, the new trial instituted by her parents proves that point. When all else fails, Corrie will be resurrected to serve this purpose once again. The Open Letter to the producer of the Shepherdstown WV Theater Festival, which I reproduce in the blog, contains information from various sources about what led to Corrie’s death.
Most important of all, I think, is that the investigative reporter for the leftist monthly Mother Jones, much to his surprise, concluded that Corrie was not intentionally murdered by the IDF, as Corrie’s comrades in the International Solidarity Movement argue, and as the play about her charges, as do Corrie’s parents.
A scurrilous left-wing website I previously have not heard of, called “Just Foreign Policy,” is heralding tomorrow’s trial. It concludes: “They murdered her, and yet she dogs them. It’s almost as if she were alive.” As we know, the IDF did not murder her. Despite the fact that this has been established by various investigations, Corrie’s supporters continue to make this spurious charge as if it has been proven true.
This is a tactic the Left always uses: repeat the lie enough times, and anyone will hopefully believe it, especially if the target is Israel or the United States. Let us hope that if as the British Guardian asserts, Israel allowed the trial to take place because of pressure from the United States, that the Israeli government takes Lenny Ben-David’s advice: arrest and try those testifying against the IDF after they are through with their court appearance. These ISM activists got into Israel in the first place under false pretenses, and were useful idiots whose activity in Gaza was taken on behalf of Israel’s sworn enemies, and with their cooperation.
Let them get their day in court before Israeli judges, and let us see what they decide is their verdict. I bet that is something they will not look forward to.

Another great article by Ron Radosh who is right on. Of course, without diminishing his comments, given the subject matter, it is not difficult to make a persuasive case against , Corrie, her parents the ISM and their ilk.
The only effective remedy for a festering abcess that continues to ooze poxic pus is to extirpate it.
Ron – I agree that the accusers should be arrested, and the parents at a minimum should be made to pay court costs. But I have one correction to your otherwise fine column: Israel does not use a jury system. It has judges who hear cases and arrive at a verdict.
Rachel Corrie brought it on herself and her blood in on her own head. I just love these Commie leftists going to foreign countries to protest. It is a shame the bulldozer didn’t run over them all. It is a shame we don’t have such a bulldozer wrecking death and destruction in the White House and Congress.
While following this trial let us not forget the 6 Rachels murdered by the Palestinian terrorists supported by Rachel Corrie, who indiscriminately targeted Israeli civilians.
Rachel Levy (17, blown up in a grocery store);
Rachel Levi (19, shot while waiting for the bus);
Rachel Gavish (killed with her husband, son and father while at home celebrating a Passover meal);
Rachel Charhi (blown up while sitting in a Tel Aviv cafe, leaving three young children);
Rachel Shabo (murdered with her three sons aged 16, 13 and five, while at home).
Rachel Thaler (16, was blown up at a pizzeria along with her friends)
No trials are being held by the Palestinians.
I met some of these ISM kids recently when they were protesting in Sheikh Jarrah. They were mostly from European countries. They impressed me as foolish kids, ignorant of the issues, who couldn’t think on their own but parroted what they were told. They seemed to be looking for a humanitarian cause to get involved in so they chose to help the “poor, suffering, oppressed, occupied Palestinians.” They chose to go to Israel to help these oppressed instead of Nigeria, Somalia, Iran,Syria, Turkey or other nations because Israel is safer for them. They can enjoy the amenities in Israel and don’t have to worry about getting arrested. They know that Israel is a safe, friendly country. Any other country would expel them or arrest them. So these misguided decided to make the “plight of the Palestinians” as their cause to fight for.
And once the judge throws out the charges I hope they order security to arrest the Corries as well.
Lee Kaplan (FrontPageMagazine.com | Friday, March 17, 2006) infiltrated the ISM and found that its operative illegally were helped to infiltrate Israel withthe help of B’tselem. THe leaders of B’tselem should be indicted

The International Solidarity Movement demonstrated what is arguably reckless and even depraved indifference to Rachel Corrie’s safety as shown by its own account of what happened. As reported by the Electronic Intifada, Rachel was PREVIOUSLY almost run down by a bulldozer (the driver stopped in time) but the ISM allowed or encouraged her to do the same thing yet again, KNOWING that she had almost been killed or hurt badly the first time. At what point would this meet the legal definition of reckless endangerment?

“Picture taken between 3:00-4:00PM, 16 March 2003, Rafah, Occupied Gaza. Rachel Corrie (L) and Nick (R) oppose the potential destruction of this home (to the west of the Doctor’s home where Rachel was killed). In the instance pictured, the bulldozer did not stop and Rachel was pinned between the scooped earth and the fence behind her. On this occasion, the driver stopped before seriously injuring her.”
The ISM also talked about how Rachel is more useful to them dead than alive.

“When Palestinians get shot by Israeli soldiers, no one is interested anymore,” Rishmawi said. “But if some of these foreign volunteers get shot or even killed, then the international media will sit up and take notice.”
From “Making of a Martyr” by Sandra Jordan
“A traumatised Smith raised his camera and took photographs: Rachel standing in front of the bulldozer; then her bloodied body being pulled from the freshly turned soil; being cradled in the arms of her friends.
‘If only they’d had a video camera,’ one Palestinian journalist lamented. ‘A film of the Israelis killing an American in cold blood would have ended the intifada.’”
Note that the Palestinian is not sorry she died, he is sorry they didn’t have a video camera so they could make a snuff movie starring an American college student. It speaks for itself.
This from Joseph Smith: “The spirit that she died for is worth a life. This idea of resistance, this spirit of resisting this brutal occupying force, is worth anything. And many, many, many Palestinians give their lives for it all the time. So the life of one international, I feel, is more than worth the spirit of resisting oppression.”
Right, Joe, Rachel’s life and not yours. Me savvy plenty good.
