How not to make Middle East peace
Ever since Barack Obama sent his vice-president to Israel to speed the peace process, everything has gone wrong in that part of the world. Deliberately or not, by treating the Israelis and the prime minister as his lackeys, Obama has signaled the Palestinians it was time to go crazy after months of relative calm. First it was Jerusalem, now it’s Gaza. Way to go Barack and Hillary and all you brilliant “realists” in the State Department. You have it all figured out, don’t you? In a recent video interview with Jonah Goldberg on PJTV, Glenn Reynolds opined that we live in a culture where there was nothing verifiably elite about our elites. How true. [But then there's nothing liberal about our liberals either.-ed. You're back!]

There is nothing elite about our elites, there is nothing liberal about our liberals and there is nothing objective about our objective mass media.
There is nothing warming about global warming, and there’s hardly a bit of change in Climate Change.
There is nothing related to care or health in our new health care legislation.
There is no exploration in our space exploration program.
There is no unity with America in our unions.
There is no attachment to Democracy these days with most of the Democrats.
There is no attachment to justice in our Justice Department.
There is no enmity for our enemies and we are not allied in the slightest with our allies.
There’s no real representation being undertaken by our representatives and there is absolutely nothing within Homeland Security that appears terribly interested in the homeland or for that matter, in our security. Certainly not as interested as in the homeland of the enemy combatants or their safety and security.
There is no budgeting in our national budget.
There is nothing being stimulated by the stimulus.
The bailout is taking on more water.
The Congressional Budget Office has determined that we are headed for a national debt to hit 90% of GDP, and that’s the legacy this generation will leave for its children…and their children.
We have slapped the face of Israel and Britain and kissed the cheeks of Iran and Hamas.
We have called our own citizens “teabaggers”, “homegrown terrorists” and “clingers to religion”.
We have been told that our own flag is the “wrong kind” of patriotism.
We have been told that there is nothing exceptional about American exceptionalism.
We are living an Orwellian nightmare.
There is nothing united about the United States.
“Glenn Reynolds opined that we live in a culture where there was nothing verifiably elite about our elites.”
The elites who graduated from our Ivy League universities are normally poorly educated and intellectually shallow. They are not worthy of respect. Things have deteriorated dramatically in the softer disciplines since the implementation of affirmative action programs in the mid to late 1960s. Inflated grades became the norm—-and by the mid 1970s the white students also got a piece of the action. The Ivy Leagues are scam operations. Well to do parents give the schools roughly $200,000 so that their ill educated and postmodernist kids will receive a phony degree behind their name. On top of that, the typical student is very ambitious and is inclined to place their wet finger into the air to see which way the wind is blowing. They could care less about what is true or false. This is the only question that is of any real importance: Is this going to look good on my resume? It is very fair and accurate to consider the majority of Ivy League graduates as intellectual whores. They are just higher paid prostitutes.
This country is experiencing a grave crisis. Barack Obama is an intellectually shallow and poorly read man. Many American voters, however, were conned by his Ivy League credentials. They had no idea that they were actually pieces of crap. We must make sure that these graduates realize that we expect them to earn everything they get. Their free rides must cease. The MSM is gradually being marginalized. This must also happen to the Ivy League academic institutions. They have to be next on our list.
Thank you, Mr. Thomson, for exposing the fraudulent nature of an Ivy League education. I will make it my business to advise my grandchildren to apply elsewhere. Which colleges should they apply to?
“Which colleges should they apply to?”
Hillsdale College may very well be the best collgee in the entire United States:

Compared to Israel, the Arab world has 25 times as many countries, 1000 times the landmass and 50 times as many people. But Israel is the pea under 1.1 billion mattresses that keeps not just Arabs but the entire Muslim world awake at night….
The President of the United States is a malicious child. There will never be peace in the Middle East, only brief pauses in the violence. The length of the pauses is directly related to the strength of Israel. Israel will continue to build infrastructure, secure her borders, strengten her military, and aggressively police the West Bank and Gaza regardless of what the stuffed shirts in DC think. They must. Israel’s survival depends on it.
We’ve played at peace talks for years so that politicians can have photo-ops and secure their legacies as narcissistic fools. Obama is a fool, but he also despises Israel. He’ll use the pretense of peace to destroy her if he can. Thank God, he can’t.
Ignore the Kabuki in DC. Support Israel. Vote the idiots out in November. The malicious child has done extensive damage, but he too shall pass.
If Obama is a Christian, he is a hypocrite judging from the racist church he attended. But if he is a Manchurian Candidate, as many are beginning to believe, why couldn’t he be a Muslim into the bargain? The left thinks this is crazy, but I stopped caring what the left thinks a long time ago. There is so much about this man we still don’t know.
Down to brass tacks:
When you have two sides, one of which wants peace and the other side has no interest in peace, which side do you pressure in the interest of making peace?
How could the Smartest Man in the World get such an easy one wrong?
I suppose Israel’s actions had nothing to do with the Palestinians “acting crazy”? Would you think it fair if you were expelled from your home so that an immigrant settler family could live there? Are you even aware of the continued land theft by Israel? I humbly suggest you educate yourself about the realities of Israel/Palestine. You give Israel a blank check, basically. An uncritical pass you do not even give to your own government.
vza:
Honey Child – you a muslim??…you know, like in jihaid?
You sure sound like it.
And in these parts we do NOT give our government a free pass.
Get a life…
You take the time, Good Ole Charlie, to write a comment like that, and you’re telling ME to get a life! Funny.
I am just an American who does not want my taxes helping Israelis expel innocent people from their homes and land.
I am just an American who does not want my taxes helping Israelis expel innocent people from their homes and land.
Good, vza, we agree!
I’m just an Israeli who does not want to see your money, or your soldiers or your interfering scum make it easier for Arab terrorists to kill my innocent neighbors.
So, vza, tell your “president” to get his money and his big interfering mouth OUT of my country! Tell your “vice president”, Joe “BFD” Biden, to shut his big mouth, and tell that lying bitch of a secretary of state to STFU! Take your generals training Arabs to kill Jews and get them the hell out; close your VOA station here, close your “Americans only” base in the Negev and KEEP your $3 billion a year – or give it to ACORN to steal votes for Obamabots in America. Close down your USAID programs to the Arab terrorists and their flunkies!
In short, vza, we do not want your aid, and we do not need you at all.
So you and your “taxpaying” Jew-haters in America can take a hike!
Get lost! We’ll be happy to see the back of ye!
vza:
Your knowledge of the Middle East is naïve at best. The history of the Middle East is much more complicated than your simple platitudes. For one, the Israelis did not expel innocent people. The Arab countries encouraged the Arabs to flee Israel at the beginning of the 1948 war and encouraged jihad rather than peace. And what about the forceful ejection of Jews from native Arab lands? How many churches or synagogues are in Saudi Arabia?
I came to appreciate and respect the Islamic culture when I studied in the Middle East. (Not, by the way, in Israel.) But I also am not blind to the simmering hatred and inferiority complex that courses through Islamic society.
I would suggest you do a good deal more research, as you clearly do not know what you are talking about.
It is much worse:
Obama is directly endangering our troops by deluding/lying… and claiming Israel defending itself, against terrorist dictators that parade as religious, endangers American troops; exactly the opposite is true! …
Obama’s insistence that the tyrants, parading as religious, in Iran be kept in power at all cost, is precisely the show of weakness that emboldens Taleban/Al Qaeda ( both of which are the brainchild, creation, and dependant of middle east intelligence agencies in a: good cop bad cop scam…) to attack our troops; And now the Obama stunning show of treachery against Israel, is emboldening the terrorist, that Obama demands be granted statehood on the West Bank/Gaza, to step up terror attacks against Israel…
Cinabar: “Your knowledge of the Middle East is naïve at best. The history of the Middle East is much more complicated than your simple platitudes. For one, the Israelis did not expel innocent people.”
You claim the Israelis did not expel innocent people and you say that I am naive about Middle Eastern history? Please, read beyond the Zionist fairy tale narrative that serves for history, for you clearly have swallowed that tale as whole cloth.
But let’s not even dwell on old history. Israel exists and I support its existence. In fact, I was a big supporter up until the last few years. What Israel is doing with the settlements and the appropriation of land from Palestinians is wrong! Many Israelis agree with me.
RUVY: “So you and your “taxpaying” Jew-haters in America can take a hike!”
Always, always, a scoundrel with a weak argument will make use of the anti-Semitic card. That tactic is losing its power to intimidate and silence, so I suggest you resort to reason and facts.
Jay Getty: “Obama is directly endangering our troops by deluding/lying… and claiming Israel defending itself, against terrorist dictators that parade as religious, endangers American troops; exactly the opposite is true!”
Excuse me, but how is uprooting a Palestinian’s olive trees and stealing his land for a settler family an example of Israel defending itself? Do you really think it is right and just for a Jewish family from Brooklyn to supplant a Palestinian family who has lived there for decades and even longer?
vza,
Who held the West Bank and the Gaza at the end of the Six Days War? Who will hold it again if the violence doesn’t stop?
vza:
I studied In Iran and I will put my knowledge of Middle East history and culture up against yours any day of the week. I am not a Zionist cool-aid drinker but am not blind to reality either.
The land comprising Gaza, the West Bank, and greater Israel has been contested for the better part of the 20th Century. I, initially, had great sympathy of the plight of the Palestinians. However, all my respect for the Palestinian arguments flew out the window when they clearly demonstrated that they would rather kill Jews than feed their children. There have been numerous opportunities for peaceful resolution only for the PA to back off at the last minute. The Arabs would rather keep the Palestinians in squalor than to settle for peace.
Again, your lack of knowledge is unbounded. The Jews did not forcibly remove Palestinians from their property but there is ample evidence of Arabs forcibly removing Jews from Arab lands. And do you think Yasser Arafat, a native of Egypt, had more right to live in Israel as any Jew?
Obama wants a war in the Middle East. He wants Israel destroyed.
I believe that most of the 80 percent of the US Jewish electorate who voted for Obama gave their support and approval for this sordid agenda, which was perfectly obvious to every Jew during the 2008 campaign. Some minds among that 80 percent may have denied or rejected it, but they embraced it in their hearts, and sad to say, still do now.
I haven’t heard even one of my fellow Jews in America express regret for having cast a vote for Obama, neither among my ordinary, everyday friends and acquaintances, nor among celebrated members of the tribe such as Ed Koch, or Alan Dershowitz. Shame may be a factor in some of those reluctant to acknowledge their mistake. But Ed Koch, and Alan Dershowitz, and others like them, seem to have no shame.
Carl,
Your vehemence is not surprising, but it is
disappointing.
I’m sure you know who Tony Judt is. It is his reasoned,
fair, historically informed point of view that I would have
expected of you.
Carolyn
Carolyn -
I know very well who Tony Judt is.* Do you?
Carl
*Was. He’s dead now.
The Arabs/Muslims drove out 800,000 Jews out of Arab lands, and stole almost 100% of their belongings and monies.
Palestinians had a chance for their own land in ’48, chose to go to war. Had chance-after-chance, but Arafat, in the last best chance, chose to make the 2nd intafada, killing thousands of Jews and Muslims because of his desire to foment violence.
The Brooklynite stealing olive trees and land from the Palestinian meme is just simply asinine. Had the Palis wanted to make peace, they could have long ago and repeatedly had a chance to make their own land and enjoy the fruits thereof. They chose death and war, let them reap the freakin’ whirlwind.
And personally, since the Israelis are accused of these huge land grabs all the time, as well as genocide and all kind of other things, I wish to HELL that the Israelis would just go ahead and remove 100% of the Palestinians from the West Bank, put ‘em in Jordan, and make a taller and bigger wall to keep ‘em all out. The Palestinians lost, like their hero Barrack Obama likes to say about the Republicans, let ‘em bite it.
I’m just TIRED of the incessant lies and stupidity of VZA and other fools.
Hey Roger, you’re on the latest Adam Carolla podcast!
Cinabar: “I studied In Iran and I will put my knowledge of Middle East history and culture up against yours any day of the week.”
“Again, your lack of knowledge is unbounded. The Jews did not forcibly remove Palestinians from their property but there is ample evidence of Arabs forcibly removing Jews from Arab lands. And do you think Yasser Arafat, a native of Egypt, had more right to live in Israel as any Jew?
Oh, please. Spare us all the bragging about your knowledge. It cannot be very deep if you hold onto the fantasy that Israel did not expel many Palestinians from their homes and villages…forcibly. Read Benny Morris. He may be able to justify it, but he does not deny that it happened and he is a Zionist!
A Jew from Russia or Brooklyn has no more right to that land than Arafat, either!
Mo said: “I’m just TIRED of the incessant lies and stupidity of VZA and other fools.”
And I am tired of the pathetic souls who drink daily from the Zionist Kool-Aid.
Israel will reach an accommodation with the Palestinians or demographics will do it for them.
Carl Sesar: “Obama wants a war in the Middle East. He wants Israel destroyed.”
Oh Lord, what nonsense. I suppose you also doubt his place of birth, too?
vza said:

Be careful what you wish for.
Well, Old Dad, I wish for a safe and secure and JUST Israel alongside a viable, contiguous Palestinian State. What do you wish for? If there is any possibility for peace, then all sides must have the courage to take those steps. Evicting Palestinians from their homes in East Jerusalem is not just, or helpful to the peace process. The U.S. has guaranteed Israel’s security…at great cost to the American taxpayers. We must NOT support the continued theft of land.
“And if that’s not enough, the myopic Jewish state also has gone and collided head-on with the ally that offers existential support. Israel has become an environmental hazard and its own greatest threat. For 43 years, Israel has been ruled by people who have refused to see reality. They speak of “united Jerusalem,” knowing that no other country has recognized the annexation of the eastern part of the city. They sent 300,000 people to settle land they know does not belong to them. As early as September 1967, Theodor Meron, then the legal adviser to the Foreign Ministry, said there was a categorical prohibition against civilian settlement in occupied territories, under the Fourth Geneva Convention. Meron – who would become the president of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, and is now a member of the Appeals Chamber for both that court and a similar one for Rwanda – wrote to prime minister Levi Eshkol in a top-secret memorandum: “I fear there is great sensitivity in the world today about the whole question of Jewish settlement in the occupied territories, and any legal arguments that we try to find will not remove the heavy international pressure, from friendly states as well.”

vza,
You’re a propagandist and a liar.

Such keen analysis! Such incisive commentary! Such……
oh well. (sigh)
When stuck like a barnacle to a weak argument..call names. Brilliant!
