Delta Airlines Terror: Fire Janet Napolitano Now
If the election were being held today in the light of the terrorism on the Delta flight from Amsterdam, I have little doubt that John McCain – whatever his deficiencies as a candidate – would have been elected president, possibly in a landslide. Who would want Barack Obama now – or his bizarre collection of czars and advisers, including Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano?
Hours after the near disaster on the Delta flight, up popped the very Napolitano with the following statement: “I am grateful to the passengers and crew aboard Northwest Flight 253 who reacted quickly and heroically to an incident that could have had tragic results.”
Well, thanks a bunch, Janet. They certainly were heroic. But why did they even have to do it in the first place? What was Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab doing on that plane anyway when he was already apparently on the terror watch list and his own father had given warnings to the US Embassy of his son’s religious extremism only a month before? Any comment about that?
Oh, I forgot, Janet. There’s no such thing as terrorism in your parlance. There’s probably no such thing to you as Radical Islam either. It’s all lost in some haze of reactionary political correctness. Problem is we are surrounded by Radical Islamic Terrorists (they’re the only ones who ever seem to blow up planes or mass murder our troops right on their bases) and you are totally unqualified to defend us from them. You don’t even think they exist.

Actually, there are bloggers here including Mr. Simon who will eventually remove your username-email identity from being moderated once you’ve shown that you can comport yourself in a civilized manner and then your comments post immediately. Unfortunately it can go back to moderated if you misbehave though as I learned when I went ballistic on Mr. Ledeen’s blog one day a few months ago and my non-moderated status went back to moderated. I deserved it though and I still feel bad about being an asshat.
Good point Wanderer. Roger, in fact, has every right here as well he should to moderate comments. My comment was not so much critical as it was intended to be explanatory; and censorship is a word with perhaps too many connotations. And Delia, I realize your point as well. I too have, on occasion, made some untoward remarks–if not here then at Pajamas main site and have been “moderated” as a result. I can’t say I disagree with that action when it has occurred–the heat of emotion takes control occasionally and there is a tendency to hit the submit button without fully thinking through what one has said.
Actually, given some of the lefty trolls I’ve seen posting around these parts, I have no problem with everyone being moderated. Better that than a completely unmoderated comment section.

Said expert mentioned that the event occurred in Detroit, home to a large community of Muslims. Regarding the Napolitano quote “The System worked”: Yes, by her definition it did, and that’s what shocks me to the point of declaring her unfit for the job and the mindset she represents unfit for the responsibilities. You see, Napolitano was including the post event response, which included the detainment of the terrorist and the gathering of information on him. In all honesty, that was indeed well done. But with further honesty, it was also too late.
The problem I see here is the mindset of process and “the system”. Yes, it worked… to gather evidence to prosecute the attempted murder and terrorist act. But it failed in preventing the attempt to begin with. And why failure to prevent is not considered a failure of the procedures and system overall is a mystery to me, but as a mindset held by the head of Homeland Security, it is intolerable and unacceptible. The proper thing to do is point out that the system did indeed fail in that it could not protect civilians, but rather relied on civilians to protect themselves and could only give assistance after the fact. And given that the raison d’etre for the system to begin with is to protect civilians, the failure is fundamental. Nevermind the success of the post-facto investigation.
In summary: I agree with Roger here. Fire Napolitano. Her statement demonstrates a mindset contradictory to the successful execution of her responsibilities.
As an aside: Anyone else want to join in with me to petition for a renaming of this organization away from that Stalinist boatload – “Homeland Security” is one syllable away from being “Motherland Security” – and back towards something honestly and humbly American? I suspect many readers have not figured out that, from the point of view of the TSA, the bungled attempt was a complete success! One must realize that the entire purpose of TSA is to limit the ability of Americans to travel. A botched operation such as this is perfect! Now, TSA can make travel even more miserable for Americans.
At some point, TSA will require internal passports of some kind, similar to what the USSR did.

If the election were being held today in the light of the terrorism on the Delta flight from Amsterdam, I have little doubt that John McCain – whatever his deficiencies as a candidate – would have been elected president, possibly in a landslide. Who would want Barack Obama now – or his bizarre collection of czars and advisers, including Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano?

Those voters had been convinced by the big media outlets and the Democrats that we needed change, and even if this event had taken place on Columbus Day 2008 instead of Christmas 2009, the spin would have still been either than it never would have happened if Barack Obama was president — because the Muslim fanatics really hate George W. Bush, not western Judeo/Christian civilization — or they would have said an Obama Administration would have prevented the attack through their higher form of human intellegence, and pre-election, there would have been no way to prove that claim wrong (remember, Newsweek just four weeks ago ran a hypothetical story claiming Al Gore would have prevented the September 11th attacks if he had been elected president. If by Thanksgiving 2009 the big media could still be luxuriating in the fantasy that all their liberal heroes’ poop never smells, a terror attempt thwarted by passengers pre-2008 election wouldn’t have changed their minds, and probably would have been sloughed off as the act of a harmless bumbler, just the way Keith Olbermann did with the Fort Dix bomb plot back in the spring of 2007.
#45 is correct – her words and actions indicate a mindset that is not conducive to the protection of the USA – closing the barn door after the horses have left still leaves you with no horses. Now the question is if that mindset is one that her boss has – if so, she will not be fired. If not, then the boss should seriously think about firing her or re-educating her as to what her mindset should be.

At first, the logic of forcing passengers to remain in their seats, as a means of preventing someone from staying in his seat and igniting his underwear, escaped my comprehension. It’s sometimes not easy to think like a liberal, but here goes:
Secretary Napolitano has shrewdly devised a cunningly devious strategy for dealing with the new threat of underwear bombs, utilizing a deep understanding of human psychology, the physiology of the response to intense stress, and advanced techniques of explosive ordnance disposal.
The intense stress faced by the homicide bomber, as he prepares to detonate his underwear will obviously be so severe that it will lead to altered cardiac output and kidney blood flow, increasing urine production, so that the urinary bladder will tend to fill quickly. Ingeniously, all passengers will now be forced to remain in their seats for an extended time , causing the guilty homicide bomber to have to pee in his pants, thus disarming his underwear bomb.
Some have speculated that Secretary Napolitano has lost her head. The Administration has responded that its location has been conclusively confirmed by a consultant proctologist.
She needs to be removed now. First she claims that the 9-11 hijackers came through canada. Amen brother! This woman needs to go soooon… Napolitano would not even be considered for this position if qualifications were a factor, I honestly don’t understand the political appointment process. Having lived in South East Asia for so long I am baffled at how retarded First World Airport Security is. If they want to know how to fix things I suggest they fly to Hong Kong.

Janet Napolitano is even uglier than she is incompetent. She basically screwed over Arizona as governor,and if she steps foot or should I say paws down on Arizona soil she probably will be shot on site.
