Well, it might be political correctness with a dollop of bureaucratic protectiveness, but whatever the cause ABC’s article today is a blockbuster: Fort Hood Shooter Tried to Contact al Qaeda. There’s more in the ABC piece that takes the Fort Hood mass murders well beyond a you-know-what-happens accident into the realm of malfeasance by the military and/or our intelligence agencies. Sen. Joseph Lieberman is calling for an investigation:
On Sunday, Senator Joseph Lieberman (D-CT) called for an investigation into whether the Army missed signs as to whether Hasan was an Islamic extremist.
“If Hasan was showing signs, saying to people that he had become an Islamist extremist, the U.S. Army has to have a zero tolerance,” Lieberman told Fox News Sunday.
Zero minus one, I should think. Meanwhile, what did the CIA know and why didn’t they tell the military of Hasan’s efforts to contact al Qaeda (or did they?):
One senior lawmaker said the CIA had, so far, refused to brief the intelligence committees on what, if any, knowledge they had about Hasan’s efforts.
CIA director Leon Panetta and the Director of National Intelligence, Dennis Blair, have been asked by Congress “to preserve” all documents and intelligence files that relate to Hasan, according to the lawmaker.
Whoa. My post of Friday night is proving more accurate than I would have liked.

The road to 9-11 was paved with stuff like this. Right now all the agencies that had anything to do with letting this sleeper get where he got are frantically scrambling around to get their stories straight. This is what happens when you try to build a consequence free society.
The stepping stones from Wiliam Ayers to Michael Moore to Jimmy Carter to Hasan form a pathway of political corrosion …but, I think it is high time we stop using leftist linguistics…there is no “correctness” about it.
I apologize in advance for repeating a refrain, but using the language of those who intend to destroy your way of life…makes one an unwitting accomplice.
Our Machiavellian media is NOT “mainstream” and the politics of corrosion of principles is not “correctness”.
“Hasanicide” is a natural by-product of the political corrosive effect of rampant and unchecked leftism. Through the prism of leftism, the “enemy” is not those who wish to kill us and destroy our way of life. Those folks have “root causes” and to whom we owe a deep bow, bended knee and slobbering apology.
No, the enemy…is you. The “bitter clinger”, the Ugly American with the “wrong kind” of patriotism.
You, who “jump to conclusions” and need to be fed a steady diet of lies, distortions and filtered facts in order to be “kept in line”.
Where did Hasan get his ideas? In a mosque preaching hate against you, right on your soil from what some reports indicate. But they are probably “jumping to conclusions”, after all. And that hate they preach against you…probably sounds very much like what you would hear from William Ayers to Michael Moore to Jimmy Carter…if you would just listen close enough.
If YOU hate…you are bitter. If THEY hate….well, your own countrymen and your Presidents have apologized for your existence, for your beliefs, for your actions and for your attitudes. They have “root causes”, ….and you deserve it.
CIA director Leon Panetta and the Director of National Intelligence, Dennis Blair, have been asked by Congress “to preserve” all documents and intelligence files that relate to Hasan, according to the lawmaker.
In today’s CIA, that may just mean that there is now occurring a paper-shredder festival, and a side show of waving big magnets at hard drives to exorcise the demons within.
Political correctness is like one party rule. It makes people stupid.
Roger, first understand I appreciate your viewpoint. Wisdom does indeed come with age. Second, I really like your articles.
Having said the above, it’s time for something that Mao actually had right, along with the Vatican: confession is good for the soul — and, I believe, good for America if done by all the 60s/70s radicals whose legacy has ruined my country, and perhaps civilization itself.
Please write an article examining your and your cohort’s complicity in the disasters caused by PC and M/C and the ruination of the academy. It’s not sufficient to, in your new wisdom, merely to fret at the results of the generations long propaganda in which you actively participated.
Hasan is a US Army officer in wartime who opened fire on unarmed US soldiers, resulting in more deaths and injuries than any single engagement with the enemy in Afghanistan to date. Now he stands accused of having attempted to contact that enemy. He should be charged with treason.
It is of some interest to know what type of bullets were used in the Ft Hood shooting by Maj.Hasan. If they were the regular type that you can just buy legaly over-the-counter that’s one thing. But, if they were the armor piercing restricted kind that are not available to the general public, and are used by some Army units, that is something else. If they were the armor piercing rounds(and some people certainly know what kind they were by now), then where, from who,and how did Maj. Hasan get them?
