For this week’s POLIWOOD Lionel and I discuss the movie that is one of the frontrunners for this year’s Oscar- Danny Boyle’s slumdog millionaire. (Of course motor moths that we are we can’t resist discussing other movies as well, not to mention various other aspects of the zeitgeist.) We both liked the film, although perhaps not as much as the reviewers. Well, it’s not a great year for the movies. Still this one is worth seeing. It’s flashy, entertaining trip to Mumbai without having to worry about drinking the water or getting a terrorist’s bullet in your back. I particularly liked the Bollywood dancing at the end.
Previous editions of POLIWOOD are here.

I wonder whether the Hollywood trashing of the USA is responsible in part for the claimed low opinion that the rest of the world has of us.
Poliwood meets Bollywood in Hollywood?
Gollywood!

Glad to see this one didn’t require registration to view. You gents need to establish a track record before people are going to drop by to hear you shoot off your mouths. A year free and then let’s talk.
I dunno if “motor moths” is a typo or not, but if so, it shouldn’t be –it’s perfecto for those wide-range fast-pace conversations –
How can we expect to get along with other countries when we are so argumentative just stating our opinion’s to one another without being ugly to
each other? Isn’t it great that we now have the choices to listen and get involved rather than being subjected to mass media and their one sided reports.
“before you shoot off your mouths”, Why do you want to listen if you feel so negative regarding their conversation, free or otherwise? I think we all need
to be held responsible for the low opinion around the world as we financially support the film industry big time for films that are destructive in so many
avenus of our lives and those of our young. The sports world use to be a sporting contest, now it is a financial windfall to the athelete and the manufactures in China. When you see “Slumdog Millionaire” you see real life and hunger and cruelty not made up sets and glamour, yet the game brings
join to the viewers at seeing this boy win and as Roger stated above, the dancing was stimulating to see, allowing you to walk out feeling better regading the boy’s life.
Sorry about mispelled word’s ” avenues” & “regardng”. At almost “76″, I am entitled I think or hope.
Have a good week, but think a little about Dec. 7th, 1941 and those who gave their lives and the possibility that some of their grandchildren are now in
the same possition for our country and be a little more tolerant of one & other.
I meant “shooting off your mouths” in a loving way. These guys are great.
Thanks for clearing it up for me as I agree with you, they are so refreshing that they are ” great”. Have a “great week”
Another correction “joy” not join.
