  1. Yes, but it shut my neighbors up.

    It was worth it.

At the end of the day, the Celtics had three future Hall of Fame players, Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, and Ray Allen. The Lakers only had one, Kobe Bryant. Pau Gasol is a very fine player, but not a superstar. End of story.

May you be comforted among the mourners in Zion.

    Go Celtics!!!!

(This shiva got a deli platter? I’m starving.)

  4. 4. Tex Lovera

Nothing like having your team gets its head handed to it. (Been there, done that…)

If you’re looking for the second coming of Magic, Kobe ain’t it. Talented, yes, but selfish as they come. Gasol’s not Worthy. Bynum’s not Kareem.

You guys had a pretty damned good run. We’ll see what happens next year, eh?

Basketball? That’s the one where a bunch of guys chase an orange ball, right?

This isn’t some sort of foreshadowing that you’re gonna off yourself, is it Roger?

If I can survive my alma mater losing in the Final Four in ’92 and in the final game in ’02, and the Pacers dropping to your Lakers in ’00 by only committing a few (dozen) fatalities, I think you can survive this. Just look for someone to strangle and you’ll feel better. If need be, dress ‘im in a Celts jersey first.

Barring that, there’s always copious amounts of alcohol to ease the pain.

It is difficult to come up with a response.
Not only was MY family responsible for the death in YOUR family, MY family did all it could to ensure the death in YOUR family. As Pravda would have said back in the day, it was no accident.

Here is a potential reply: It was either them or us.

Unless you’re a Bills fan, you don’t know the meaning of death, despair, agony, or pain.

LA at least has won it all. Buffalo, never.

The great thing about sports is that even though they are so serious, in that everyone is trying so hard and hoping so much, it really doesn’t matter the way a real death in the family does. It’s like an on-stage tragedy (or comedy if your team wins). I did experience one devastating blow that took a long time to recover from: the Red Sox loss to the Mets in the ’86 World Series. Hope this isn’t that bad for you.

I thought it showed class to link to the NBA page with all the Celtic celebrations pictures.

Hillary says she’s been a Celtic all along ;)

    A death? More like manslaughter.

  12. 12. jimmy mack

    Sorry Roger..

    Boston Celtics…NBA World Champions! YES!

Have a better day my friend.

An ESPN airhead wrote the following.

“Rooting for the Celtics is like saying Hitler was a victim. It’s like hoping Gorbachev would get to the blinking red button before Reagan.”

A black woman’s associating Hitler with the Celtics is either ironic or shows colossal ignorance. After all, the Celtics were the first team to 1) draft a black player (1950); 2) have an all-black starting lineup (1964) ; 3) hire a black coach РBill Russell; 4) draft a player from a black college- Same Jones. Three black coaches are responsible for five of the Celtics’ 17 championships. Very Hitlerian. But then, who expected a sports journalist to know her subject any more than journalists covering politics know politics?

While Roger is a Lakers fan, he keeps it in perspective, as do the other basketball fans who comment here. It’s just a game. It’s entertaining, but it’s just a game.

Considering that many of the Celtics fans are Taxachusetts moonbat liberals- the state where my sister has lived for many years without succumbing to moonbattery- the charge about Gorby and the red button may not have been completely inaccurate, especially in some select parts of Cambridge.

Manslaughter? Nah, this was more like “assisted” suicide.

    GO GREEN!!!!!

    An ESPN airhead

That’s ex-ESPN airhead. Jemelle Hill is easily one of the dumbest people on the planet. Firing her is one of the best moves ESPN could make. She’s forever claiming that Jordan is overrated; um, sure Jemelle, whatever you say. I know that there’s always a bigger fool to be found that will probably hire her but, for now, it must really suck to be her.

  16. 16. Captain Hate

Correction: She was only suspended. C’mon ESPN: Get her off my internet!!!

  17. 17. scott

Roger, you are one of the smartest guys I know, but let’s put this in perspective:last season Boston won like 24 games,as did the Memphis Grizzlies(the team for which we built a quarter of a billion dollar arena). This season the Celtics are NBA champions, and Memphis won 24 games.Get over it,my friend.

  18. 18. larry

The Lakers had a great season, Roger. Gratz on that. Whoda thunk at the beginning of the season that they’d have the best record in the west and win the division championship? I watched Phil pretty close. My guess is he knew they were in over their heads.

  19. 19. brandon davis

“It’s a good day, Anthony. Yes. A very good day.” (pace Rod Serling).

Actually, any day the Lakers lose is a good day; but the day they lose a championship is a GREAT! day.
