As an approximately ten-year Earthlink user, I must say I am mucho unhappy with their DSL service of late. I have been down for the last twenty hours or so here in Hol Hills (blogging on an oh-so-slow Verizon card because the cell connection weak here) with no end in site. This is the second time Earthlink, which supposedly has a reputation for stability, has gone down in the last two weeks. And on Passover.No me gusta.

Roger, must be a localized problem. Because here in the Barrio de Van Nuys, there hasn’tbeen a problem at all.
Got rid of DSL from Earthlink about 2 years ago. I had a problem and after a month of getting told by the Earthlink help desk that it would be fixed the next day and nothing happening I cancelled the DSL and went with cable. Would not go back on a bet. I too had been pretty satisfied with the DSL service for several years but after several outages and then the being told over and over again it would be fixed overnight I got fed up with it.
What they told me was that Earthlink had a contract with a service company here in Queens who then had a contract with Verizon to provide the service. Unfortunately I had to talk to the guys in India who then called here to their service company who then called Verizon and then passed the message back up the line. Even though I could have walked to the local company I could not talk to them at all to find out what was going on. I was just told that a trouble ticket was being created. In all there were 4 trouble tickets created in that month, all supposedly from the central office of Verizon, and yet after a month I was then told they were going to create a new trouble ticket. That was the frosting on the cake.
Good luck to you in your dealings. Mine were fine for a long time but then it all seemed as if Earthlink wanted to get rid of their personal service.
Earth day is coming up and I’m muy (instead of mucho) unhappy that all we can muster where I work it to bring in our own plates and cups. Hooah!
I’m pushing for people to commute but it seems to be a non starter. Not even for one lousy day.

What else would call something that is not a commemoration and people don’t do anything to call attention to it’s presumptive cause?
Roger, considering how crucial Internet access is to you, I’m surprised that you haven’t gone to cable by now. I switched from DSL years ago and cable really is faster. I haven’t noticed any slowing during prime time, either (which was one the arguments made against cable Internet service, that the pipe would clog up when everyone was watching TV).
Have a peaceful and meaningful holiday, Roger. Isn’t it great to live in a country where we can practice our differing religions without fear of violent attack?

Roger, here is a user’s comment on the newest incarnation of Pajamas Media. I use the PJM blogroll as a bookmark. The newer blogroll differed from the older blogroll in two respects. 1) It eliminated the alphabet at the top of the page. 2) It separated the blogroll into two lists: Network Bloggers, followed by Other bloggers. The older version had the two in one list, with the Network Bloggers distinguished by an asterisk.
I use the older version of the blogroll instead of the newer version of the blogroll as a bookmark, because the alphabet at the top of the page, and having one list instead of two, both give me faster access to the blog I want to link to, re scrolling down the page.
