As a Steeler’s fan -damn finally the Senate Judiciary does somethin’ useful.

    Go Specter!

  2. 2. Eric Akawie

Now why would Senator Specter want to drag the NFL in front of Congress? Must just be a dedicated lover of Truth and advocate of Fair Play.

  3. 3. Lightnin' Hopkins

Come on, what’s the big deal? He’s just angling for some righteously indignant face time, using the high profile of the NFL as his pretext. In fact, this sounds like a classic case of a “bi-partisan” media bonanza – the kind his buddies Lindsey Graham, Ted Kennedy (well, okay, not THIS time), and Darth Schumer would want their share of. You know, in the best interests of the American people, of course. What’s more important, defeating a wide-ranging islamofascist enemy bent on the annihilation of the West, or a gaudy display of flippant populism? Our (mostly) unserious congressmen and women are sure they know the answer, and they aren’t shy about wasting our tax dollars while driving home their innocuous point.

I blame Bush. No wait, Dick Cheney. No, Rove! Whew, I worked that out with the zen-like clarity and efficiency of a U.S. Senator – time for another taxpayer-funded vacation! Genius should be rewarded.

I’m a patriot fan, but I must say I’m with Specter on this one.

Like baseball, football enjoys monopoly privileges unlike any other American enterprise.

Baseball suffered a black eye recently, and the excuses we are hearing is that nobody was paying attention.
Let’s make sure football doesn’t get one too for the same stupid reason.

    Lem,

Only baseball has an antitrust exemption.
