It’s interesting to watch the escalating food fight between the Clinton and Obama camps over a hemi-semi-demi rumor published in Bob Novak’s column that the Clintonistas have “scandalous” info about Barack.

Now Obama accuses the Clinton crowd of playing “Swift Boat politics.”

Baloney. This has nothing to do with the Swift Boat veterans, who, agree with them or not, were completely public in their allegations. Those Vietnam vets, saying quite specifically who they were, even making a film and writing a book about it naming literally dozens of names, accused John Kerry of misrepresenting (to put it mildly) his activities during the Vietnam War. Other than issuing a denial and stamping his feet, Kerry never refuted them formally or, though he promised he would, published his official war record.

This is the opposite of what is going on here, which is a hidden war of innuendo with no specifics mentioned at all, let alone any attribution. But Obama – the supposed “new politician” – is using it to play the oldest of political games, “guilt by association,” and, as is usual in these cases, basing it on a phony standard with no facts. He’s just preaching to the choir and stamping his feet – like Kerry.

I don’t know about the rest of you, but I increasingly find Obama to be like a late night infomercial host – slightly charming, slightly unctuous, factually meaningless. Ready for the Presidency? Don’t be silly.

As for the reputed scandal or scandals and should they be reported, Mickey Kaus has an amusing and, I think, accurate post.

There is so much real Clinton scandalalia out there, and no matter its gravity it means so little to starry-eyed Clinton acolytes, that even hard-headed folk are looking at this bulletproof untouchability, and the destruction it wreaks on whistleblowers, as proof that the Clintons ought to be president again.

A presidency without fault–may be Just What The Country Needs–as a change you see.

Elect Hillary, is the message, and We Will Stop the Pain.

Its like the scene in ”Braveheart”, the torturers offer Mel Gibson death as a relief from agony, if only he’ll recant.

I’m not at all impressed with Obama. He is a silly, empty suit married to an obnoxious race-baiter.

It’s also infuriating to me the way all the Dems use “Swiftboating” as a derogatory epithet. The Swift Boat vets as far as I could tell (I read a lot about the issue and them, 3+ years ago) were ernest and sincere in their charges and would not have mounted their assault on Jf’nK at all had he not gravely offended and insulted them with his lies and prissy self-adulation (and refused to release his military records to boot). I gave $$ to the Swift Vets and I’d do it again.

Around here (the Hudson Valley), a common bumpersticker usually but not always on pickup trucks was some variation of “Vietnam Vets Against Kerry.”

Obama and the rest of the losers in the Dem party ought to ponder their incessant disparagement of and insults towards Vietnam vets (of which my husband is one as well), Swift Boat and otherwise. To a whole lot of folks the Swifties were and are heroes — for their actions during active duty and for their bravery and courage in the run-up to the 2004 election. Thank God for them; 3 years of President Kerry might have driven a number of us over the edge.

Obama gives a bad rap to affirmative action. He was a Havard grad, but what distinguishes him are his incompetence and whininess. Same can be said of that Yale grad who could only answer planted questions. One’s race, the other’s gender are their biggest assets.

  4. Amen, Peg. Amen.

When Bill Clinton used that phrase recently, I like to think he didn’t see the irony: the damaging allegations are true and documented, but the subject is trying to smear them as false. Same here.

I agree that this is an attempt to give the Swift Boat Vets a bad name. I read the book and watched their telling commercials and they had a meaningful effect on the race in 2004.

HRC has a lot of baggage;so why is not “Blowhard Joe” Biden coming out and raising cane? Where is “Loudmouth Chris” Dodd. Biden wants to be Secretary of State in a Democratic Administration and Dodd is so “all a flutter in the spotlight” and he just wants to be liked by Teddy, Joe and Bubba.

HRC is tagged by Robert Ray, the last special prosecutor, in his last report as being untruthful before the DC grand jury. Where is that on the front page of the Times and the Post?

The idea of Switftboat by ‘THEM’ is such a joke…heh.

The swift boat veterans not only proved their point, but availed themselves for criticisms and the MSM failed miserably.

Sooo… I guess they were not only crazy (forget about truthful), but also a bit silly… according to the news… It just takes the MSM and their supporters to carry the facts!! ..

It is all BS folks, left and right, we, here, know it. We validate others by validating ourselves. Lets hope the country chooses beyond themselves.

“Ready for the Presidency? Don’t be silly.”

You might have asked that about the Bush families troubled child before pulling that lever.

In 2000 the United States Of America was seen positively around most of the world, the United States Of America operated at a budget surplus, oil was $30 a barrel, and the US dollar was the envy of the world.

You may find candidates who are imperfect, yet could any be near the scale of horror of the one you chose?

Be honest with yourself. If you are, you will see you have not the judgement to comment on those that seek to lift this country back to honor.

Ho Hum, lessee, look in the lit and see all the ”why do they hate America” titles from the 90s. Why if we so hated pro-american gov’ts being elected all over world–(gosh this is gonna be tedious), yr 2000, Enron, WorldCom, Credit Suisse, dozen other 90s financial scandals busting open (yawn), oil-for-food humming along turning UN and several large national govts into organized crime syndicate, dot-com bust wiping out a trillion or two of middle-class savings, nasty recession in build, 911 attack plan and global jihadi offensive in play, left-wing govt’s in Europe making own currency low ag/ dollar (currency a ratio, we control the numerator only), US budget surplus due to bubble, hyped dot com recpts, military cuts which we still regret, GOP congress reforms, and no 911, terror war, or Katrina yet.

( zzz-hey wake up you still gotta list ) the number of straight quarters of eco growth & job creation, the huge growth of world economy over last half decade which has driven the price of oil up but has dropped the % of household income spent on energy and doubled the amount of GDP per unit of oil consumed, the huge gain in USA GDP, household net worth, job creation, low interest rates, AQ much weakened & not nearly so close to control of OPEC pricing power, Iraq the heartland of mideast world fuel tank a constitutional democracy rather than an expansionist jihadi fascist WWIII-fomenting snakepit, 55 million slaves freed in Afghan & Iraq, maddie albright’s friend in Pyongyang following Libya out of nuke-bomb biz, Merckel & Sarkozy & Harper and a dozen other duly-electeds newly elected on pro-Bush platforms, pant pant pant, whew, more to say but pooped– yes lots of problems but

yr 2000 as Garden of Eden is just wrong.

I think Mickey Kaus is so correct: Sid Blumenthal (who is beautiful like a vampire), has joined up with Hillary, and out comes a slime on Obama.

Obama is NOT ready for prime time, and I don’t think he (originally) thought he would be… he is preparing for his next opportunity. For Barack, this is try out time in Buffalo, folks.

Also, I like that my favorite bloggers are backing different (Republican) fellas: Hewitt LOVES Romney; Roger will vote enthusiastically for Rudy; and Galen is actually working for Thompson. Then there is the Weekly Standard, holding the fort for McCain. Myself, (a Canadian) I lean towards Duncan Hunter (I have watched him on CSpan…).

Anyway, the Republicans have a great field to chose from; you are EXTREMELY LUCKY. Imagine, if you were Democrats, fur gracious sake: Hillary (and Bill; imagine, just imagine, being an orphan in an orphanage run by Hillary… something out of Jane Eyre for sure); Skinny Barack, Harvard Grad, who thinks his Daddy has so much money he can well afford to pay out LOTS MORE in taxes; and Silky Edwards the Ambulence Chaser.

as to swift boating… Kerry’s ENTIRE chain of command joined up with the Swift Boaters to say that John Kerry should never ever be Commander in Chief of the US Armed Forces. Let alone the President.

And there were all those medals on display during the commercials.

That anyone could denigrate that bunch of men is just beyond shameful.

the broadest commonly followed index, the SP 500, 1960-2007.

See Reagan boom become parabolic bubble 98-2000 when dot-com/Enronism run-up collapse, collapse further under 911 pressure, until Bush tax cuts take effect in 2003, then steady rise to current. Warp & woof of USA economic health, right here.

Be honest with yourself. If you are, you will see you have not the judgement to comment on those that seek to lift this country back to honor

    Monica offered her honor
    Bill honored her offer
    Then all over the Oval
it was “on ‘er and off ‘er”

    American missile tech
    sold off and China’s
    and worldwide children
    hear cigars in vaginas.

When you [John Kerry] have done so, if you can then prove anything in the [Switft Boat Veterns] ads was materially untrue, I will gladly award $1 million. As you know, I have been a long and proud supporter of the American military and veterans’ causes. I now challenge you to make this commitment: If you cannot prove anything in the Swift Boat ads to be untrue, that you will make a $1 million gift to the charity I am choosing — the Medal of Honor Foundation.

In 2000 the United States Of America was seen positively around most of the world

Especially by 19 hijackers who had entered the country and begun planning to murder 10′s of thousands of US citizens and the impotent Euros who were taking Saddam’s oil for food bribes.
