Send a salami to your boy in the Army

September 3, 2007 - 7:16 am - by Roger L Simon

Remember that great WWII slogan from Katz’s Deli in New York? Well, it still works and it’s still happening (salamis to Iraq). Someone’s trying to make a movie about it – you can help.

This is a great idea. My uncle and cousins, Sam and Michael and Mark Brummer, owners of Hobby’s Delicatessen in Newark, NJ, began Operation Salami Drop a few years ago. They have sent thousands of pounds of salamis to troops serving in Iraq and are still accepting donations to send more. It was inspired by my Uncle Sam, who recalled getting salamis from home after he landed on Omaha Beach and fought his way across Germany in WWII.
