Opponents of the Second Amendment might point to Gaza as a place that a little gun control might go a long way. It seems to be a one-man-three-hundred-and-twenty-guns kind of place with the idea of a “license to carry” about as close at hand as Alpha Centauri.

Of course, in the press reports it’s the Israelis (who left) who are overtly or covertly to blame for all this. Never mind that Israeli citizens themselves are under daily bombardment far inside their borders. They should grin and bare it, I guess these “progressives” are trying to say. It’s not even worth wondering what these reactionary media nabobs would do themselves if their families were under similar attack – we know. (Well, we don’t – they might run for the hills or go for the nukes, depending on their temperaments. You also find yourself weirdly sympathetic to the inept Ehud Olmert when the likes of Eli Wiesel are telling him to negotiate with the Palestinians. How? In a flak jacket? And with whom?)

We also know the source of this Palestinian craziness. It is sadly obvious and it is in no way new. And the cycle couldn’t be more vicious and scary and endless. Child abuse is the problem. Almost every Palestinian child is raised with guns in their hands and the Islamist words of the Koran in their ears, spewing hatred at every Infidel, the monkey and pig Jews first. And now they’re doing it with their own “Mickey Mouse” on television. Until this changes, Solomon himself couldn’t negotiate a peace that was worth a Chinaman’s hudna.

I never thought Golda Meir was right when she said years ago: “Peace will come when the Arabs will love their children more than they hate us.” Now I wonder.

It was streetwise, real-world wisdom behind “Peace will come when the Arabs will love their children more than they hate us.” And, where is Israel going to find leaders anywhere near as perceptive as the ‘first-generation’ cohort that included Golda Meir?

And when, oh when, are the great and the good going to rip the bandages off their eyes and stop labelling negotiations between one side who murders civilians for the applause of the MSM, and another side who does not do that, a “peace process”?

Confucius was right – good government must begin by careful use of terminology, by calling things by their right names. Drooling over a “peace process” is the opposite.

These nice people, yearning for peaceful, dignified lives, are doing what – to them – comes naturally: murder murder murder.

Except now, the Wall means they have to concentrate on each other, instead of killing the EEEEVilllll Joooooos.

I really have a hard time wondering why anyone cares anymore. The Palestinian electorate voted for this in a democratic election. Now, let them all take the consequences. This is one of the unexpected results of “Democracy” by the way: there are no more excuses for the citizenry involved.

At some point the Israeli left is going have to deal with reality. It is a very European left, so it isn’t going to happen easily. The Lebanese conflict last summer started to open some eyes, but just some; giving up a world view held with religious fervor is never easy. And what, after all, is there to replace it? God forbid that the left should admit that the right might have something valuable to contribute, like a commitment to self defense and the survival of Israel.

Wait, let me guess, Eli Wiesel told Olmert to negotiate with the Palestinians because…because they’re part of “humanity” too? A lifetime studying the holocaust, or, to use the more honest term, the murder of the Jews and you still don’t get it Eli? You Goddamned Fool!

If Palestinians were willing to sell a relative to Saddam, to become a suicide bomber, there is nothing left to shock the conscience.

What can possibly be done to counter that? To paraphrase Rumpole of the Bailey – that is for Israelis to decide.

Rog, you advise the Israelis, or consider advising that “They should grin and bare it”. What, exactly, should they bare? Surely not “it”! Are you really that prurient? But maybe you mean some other “it”. Please, enquiring minds want to know: which it is it?

The “child abuse” you cite does not come from growing up with guns. If you took away the guns, the fundamental problem would not change.

It comes from Palestinian parents (and religious and political leaders) who indoctrinate their children with unspeakable hatred for the Jews (and the West). Just listen to how the Islamists refer to Jews as pigs and dogs. Understand what these references mean in the vernacular of Islam.

This is nothing more than the same effort to dehumanize the Jews that the Nazis used in World War II. Listen to Ahmadinejad speak. It is the same.

Iranian television shows cartoon programs that glorify attacks on and the deaths of Jews and infidels.

It is part of systematic effort to brainwash the masses so they can be manipulated according to the purposes of the political/religious leadership. I should say evil leadership.

Sadly, much more blood will be shed before this over.

Barret, of course it is not the guns themselves – it is the insane ideology. Still, you parade little children around with AK-47s, it’s not surprising that they grow up to fire them at almost anyone.

Brian H, reread my post, please. You have misunderstood it.

  9. Insightful notion. Meir certainly was right.

Something that I have noticed over the last 5 years, reading accounts of Iraq, is that the difference between Iraqis and Palestinians is quite striking, in that Iraqis really do love their children very much. I have often thought that it is the most hopeful thing about Iraq, and if they succeed, it will have come down to loving their children enough to do it.
