From the AP: TEHRAN, Iran – Bandits killed a guard of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad hours before the leader visited southeastern Iran this week, state-run television reported Saturday.

Bandits, huh? Okay. Pajamas Media has more.

(Michael Ledeen, who has contacts within the Iranian freedom movement, informs me these “bandits” were also, like Ahmadinejad, messianic believers in the 12th imam – hence it’s an inside job. Who knows?)

Has Mahmoud Ahmadinejad become the Islamic nihilist version of Mafia gangster Albert Anastasia?:

ìUnfortunately, as boss, Anastasia became more brutal than ever. In 1952, he even ordered the murder of a young Brooklyn salesman named Arnold Schuster after watching Schuster bragging on television about his role as primary witness in bank robber Willie Sutton’s arrest. It is alleged that Anastasia raged to his men “I can’t stand squealers! Hit that guy!”

In killing Schuster, Anastasia had violated a cardinal mafia rule against killing outsiders, which ran ñ as Bugsy Siegel once quaintly put it ñ “We only kill each other.” Schuster’s murder brought unnecessary public scrutiny on mafia business. Luciano and Costello were horrified, but they could not take action against Anastasia as they needed him to counter Genovese’s growing ambitions and power.î

Could it be that the sensible Iranian leadership is worried Ahmadinejad could bring about a major conflagration with both the United States and Israel? Hey, this could mess with their affluent lifestyles.

    “bandits” lmao.

would anybody accuse me of being predictable if i were to ask why they’re not “freedom fighters”?

David: Or like Luciano having Dutch Schultz put down because Schultz’s plans to assassinate Thomas Dewey would only have made things more difficult for the Mob.

Jonathan, if this really was an inside job, I’d be reluctant to call them freedom fighters and suggest that they’re the good guys. A mobster who kills another mobster for purely selfish reasons is still a mobster.

Of course, the 12th imam is already here. His name is George W. Bush. And incredibly enough, he belives in Jesus.
