Liberty Film Festival

October 22, 2005 - 2:49 pm - by Roger L Simon

It was a pleasure today to meet many readers of this blog at the Liberty Film Festival where I appeared on a screenwriting panel with Andrew Klavan (Clint Eastwood’s True Crime), Craig Titley (Scooby-Doo, Steve Martin’s Cheaper By The Dozen), Paul Guay (Jim Carrey’s Liar, Liar), Burt Prelutsky (Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, MASH), and Charlie Carner (Vanishing Point). Special congratulations are due commenter Pat Ducey who is one of three finalists in the festival’s screenwriting contest.

The festival seems very well attended and looks to be a future Hollywood fixture.

  1. Roger…I’m curious what you thought of the screenplay for “True Crime.” I thought the book was truly outstanding, but the movie was only good. For one thing, changing the race of the main character from black to white (while statistically “true”) really messed up the plot structure.

Thanks, Roger! It was great to meet you. I didn’t win the whole magilla, but the festival organizers are showing all the finalists’ scripts to producers and managers, so I’m thrilled.
