That was an interesting article. I don’t see what we can do about European anti-Americanism, though. It seems to be based on deep philosophical fallacies. Indeed, I sometimes joke that the collapse of Europe is due to 200 years of bad German philosophy. Except I’m not really joking.
Anyway, unless the Europeans start to rearm, the main danger is their continuing influence around the world and their state funded propaganda organs, such as the BBC and DW. What to do? Wait it out, I suppose. It will probably take 50 years or more. The South arguably took 100 years to recover from the Civil War and Europe is still recovering from WWI and WWII. Unfortunately, I will be dead by the time European recovery takes place, if it does. Geez, I would really like to see what happens, too.
“The truth is that Britain has steadily turned away from its biggest ally, the United States, and towards Europe, becoming potentially more and more integrated through the procurement into the European defence structure that will undermine NATO.
Each new piece of equipment has been ordered from European firms, even if there was a cheaper and, what is even more important, better one produced by American, Anglo-American or South African firms. The amount of money wasted on projects that have not delivered on time or produced shoddy and inadequate equipment has run into billions. But, more importantly, the new equipment is produced not to NATO but to separate European standards. Britain will no longer be able to fight independently or alongside the United States or other allies like Australia.
In other words, a complete realignment of defence strategy is in progress, unannounced and undiscussed.”
This is what really worries me.
One of the things I think will deflate current anti-Americanism is some real economic growth in the Eurozone, but the only way that’s going to happen is if some tax-cutting and deregulation happen. Good luck, Angela Merkel and friends, you’re going to need it. I don’t want America to become Europe’s new Jew.
I’m also quite disgusted by the complete lack of new investment by the Bush administration in the trappings of public diplomacy. Can we bring back the US Information Agency? Please. Pretty please. It’s how many years since 911 and there’s been very little movement in this direction. Instead, we get loser magazines for Muslims, an abortive ad campaign, and Karen Hughes’ little tour.
These issues bother me only until I remember that they pertain to, and are engaged between, a very small percentage of the populations of the nations/religions/organizations/agencies/high schools “represented”. The average American is totally busy participating in the infinity of opportunities for fulfillment, happiness, success through actual personal achievement, adventure, wealth, luxury, etc., made possible through the brilliantly versatile contract that we acknowledge with each other, and we don’t have time to wonder what anyone in any other part of the world might think about us. Most Americans hardly notice when pissed-off foreigners spew ludicrous complaints about us in broken English. (Envy, what a convoluted emotion, and when it’s mixed with lazy, you just get trashy, whining people.) And if that’s part of what makes them mad, well, no one cares some more. Really, we have much better things to do than acknowledge such ridiculous drivel. There are ball games to see and money to spend. There is music to hear, great food to eat, and places to go.
Europe hasn’t a prayer in the world of surviving Western civilization. Systematically washing any existence of God from society(Atheism combined with Communisim killed 100 million in less that 80 years and I am not demanding people believe in any religion just demanding people be allowed to the right to believe), aborting all their replacments, and pulverizing any social structure they have left all the while demanding tolerance towards He-man Allah who is busy crafting nuclear missiles, designed by the Russian mafia and filled to the brim with EU nuke material, to be used as a tool of enslavement by pointing those missiles directly at the State of Dhimmitude heads.
Better now to consider Europe dead and adjust to this reality than to wait until we follow their path of extinction. We would also be wise to learn from their mistakes by not following their mistakes to the letter.
I don’t have children, but if I did I would be doing everything in my power(doing it anyway regardless of not having children because I do care about the future generation) to secure their future because if we follow Europe’s path our children will be living dead under Socialist Serfdom.
Diplomacy is worthless when dealing with those who believe in appeasing their enslavers. The US State Department works for the United Nations and not even Dr. Rice can change this internal threat.
One is tempted to dismiss European anti-Americanism as a distasteful remnant of the tradition of prejudice common among Europeans. After all, unlike the Jews, we are not powerless; this hate doesn’t seem as ominous as the anti-Semitism of the 1930s. And the Europeans feel smug in their hatred since the multi-racial country they hate, America, exempts them from the racist label. However, such hate still corrodes the soul; continental Europe is sick.
The dangerous part is that sickness is contagious. Far from innocuous, hatred creates an environment where vicious acts are possible. Fueled by European hate-ideology, dictators and court intellectuals of third-world countries scapegoat America for the intrinsic failures of their own culture. One week before 9/11, this hate reached a climax in the UN sponsored conference in Durban, South Africa.
It is this kind of hate that makes 9/11 possible and acceptable. I’ve accused the UN of playing a key role in creating this atmosphere of hate. We are far too polite in confronting the hate-mongers when we are the objects of hate. It’s time we got some moral backbone and responded with the righteous indignation this hate-movement deserves.
