My son Jesse Simon’s one-man show begins Saturday Oct 22 at the Patricia Faure Gallery at Bergamot Station in Santa Monica. Jesse’s work has been shown in museums and galleries around the world, but this is his first one-man show in his hometown. I will be there for the opening between 5 and 9PM that evening. The show runs for slightly more than a month, if you can’t make it then.
The work above is a detail of Pan-Pacific (2005). Foam, Resin & Wood, 60″ x 42″.

Congrats, Jesse, and proud papa!
What type of art? Is there a particular “subject?”
I must be one of the bourgeois. This kind of ‘art’ is incomprehensible to me. If you picked ten reasonably intelligent Americans, would any of their explanations be similar? I think it’s just a bunch of pretentious, in-crowd, shenanigans made by someone who can’t do real art.
Pan Pacific is amazing. quite an enticement. Thank you for the invite.
and sam, the very large words at the top of this post are an invitation to ‘ART ENTHUSIASTS’. as you are admittedly not, you should have decided to avoid exposing your lack of courtesy on Mr. Simon’s site. what a bore. and you left your obnoxious and rude comment twice. are you also ignorant of how a computer functions?
Los Angeles
okay, Mr. Simon corrected part of your error and deleted the second identical post. but sam’s still a bore.
I wish I could make it on Saturday! But I will try my best to be there during the month. How proud you must be! And yes, Pan-Pacific is excellent and a strong enticement to come out.
Shame on you, Sam. Roger’s son has achieved a good deal of success in the art world (no small feat) and, whether you like it or not, that’s something positive to many who aren’t necessarily “inside”.
Remember, Jeff Foxworthy has sold more cds than any other comedian and I’d be willing to bet there are plenty of people who find his humor “incomprehensible”. They are not the ones buying the albums. Just like you will not be one buying Jesse Simon’s art.
IOW, grow up.
Fiscals permitting, I’ll give it a shot.
Brings to mind Donald Judd, but with a protractor.
I like the design, and I liked it before I even scrolled all the way down and saw it was by your son.
You must be a proud dad!
