Without any evidence other than a posting on Wikipedia (wow… there’s an unimpeachable source), someone named Scott Horton of the soi-disant Anti-War Blog is calling for the indictment of Michael Ledeen for the Niger yellowcake forgeries.
This is the kind of irresponsible tripe that makes blogs in general look ridiculous. If I were Michael, I’d take this nitwit to court. Were this the UK, I’d bet my house Mr. Horton would be paying for Ledeen’s next vacation in Tahiti. But perhaps the looser US libel laws shield infants like Horton from this kind of action. I wonder what more adult legal minds would think.

Roger,
Chill. I guess I’m left of center on the free flow of info on the Net and the Blogos. Once there are restrictions either directly or indirectly, this puts a damper on flow of thoughts and ideas. This utlimately puts someone in control which is bad. This kind of power ultimately corrupts e.g. Iran , China, and Saudi Arabia to name a few.
The Blogos has it’s own self-righting ability with blogs such as yours that will call these nitwits out on their BS. Let free market economics function. He who posts junk will go to the bottom of the pile.
I suppose in the end someone that knowingly posts outright lies should be held accountable. Perhaps after the fact libel actions are appropriate.
In the UK libel law is mainly used by rich sleazeballs like the late Robert Maxwell to censor the media. Mr Ledeen would have to spend huge $$$ to bring the action which in his case would probably be thrown out by a load of Guardian reading jurors.
In the UK just the threat of legal action for libel is enough. It is not for the subject of the accusaions to clear themselves it is for the accuser to prove them,if the latter loses they could have to pay all costs. Not the best system, but it does deter frivolous accusations.whilst the system covers crooks like Maxwell it does discourage poisonous phantasies.
BTW,How on earth did Ronnie earle get away with it? Here he would be before the Bar Association

Peter,
Ronnie and Horton are sludge from the same septic tank. The Soros/Bing/Lewis funded Kossack slime machine in conjunction with the DemSM propaganda organs are cooking up a “corruption” theme for the ’06 campaign. Lacking the capacity to generate anything resembling a platform that would be acceptable to more than the 20% of the population so deficient in self esteem that they are willing to identify themselves as liberals, they have decided that a gutter fight is the only available option.
Ronnie got away with it(to this point, anyway) because DeLay is unloved by many. He is far too tough to be strongly defended by soft centrists spouting high principles while disdaining dirty hands. Don’t worry about him, though, he has the spine to see himself through – and take care of Ronnie in passing.
The swipe at Ledeen is just part of the setup for Fitzgerald’s closing of the Plame matter. If Fitzgerald does indict anyone within the administration (which I consider to be unlikely – unless he wishes to be compared to Ronnie) then this little piece of character assassination by Wikipedia will be hauled out and dragged around for a bit. This isn’t the low point nor even close to the low point. The next fourteen months could very well see the nadir of American political practice. Neither the Kossacks nor their DeMSM organs are going to go quietly.
Rick,
You wouldn’t believe how appalling this looks from my side of the pond, how traitorous these people look or how much of a laughing stock they are making of America, depending on ones point of view. The Democrats may win using this method but America’s standing in the world will be devastated, they did it with Vietnam, the reverberations of which still resonate today. If they can repeat this with Iraq, they will be cocks crowing on a dunghill. It will also be a huge boost for Islamofascism.
BTW Is it not time for AP to be investigated?

This piece in the Mirror will give you an idea of what is being portrayed.

Peter,
Mr. Purgavie did such a fine job of regurgitation of the DeMSM meme for the coming year that I have copied it off and saved it. I wonder if he lives with Moulitas?
The Dem strategy is unusual only in the fact that it goes somewhat lower than it has in the past. Having no ideas and no leadership leaves only the faint hope that focus on the negative will keep the opposition voter demoralized enough so that he stays home on election day. That’s a doubtful proposition at best.
The Dems only hope of even remaining on the field lies in an economic downturn severe enough to have an impact on Joe Average. Even at that, what would they offer as a palliative? I agree that it is a shame that the DeMSM and the Democratic party leadership in general is composed of people of very low character but a public display of that character is not truly harmful – except, in the end, to themselves.
Wrt difficulty with comments – there appears to be a time issue both here and at Blogger sites. Composing a comment in a text editor and then pasting it in and hitting “Post” alleviates some of the problem. Quitting the page immediately after hitting “Post” and re-entering through the main page alleviates double posting. It seems at times that there might be an ongoing effort to reduce the number of comments being made but I believe that in reality it’s just war against the spambots.
I’m glad to know about this. Thanks for sharing the information.
