Well, not the war, but the internal war within our country leading up to the war. Even to this outsider (okay, I’ll be honest, far outsider) nothing could be more obvious than that the attacks on the John Bolton nomination for UN ambassador are not about the nominee’s attitudes toward subordinates (the “presenting complaint”), but about something much more important. What we are watching is yet another reenactment of the endless battle between the Pentagon and the State Department. During the runup to the Iraq War, Bolton was one of the few people within the State who stood up for the administration’s (and Defense Department’s) policy. Now he is being paid back, particularly since the administration’s policies are looking better and better in retrospect. Who better to punish for this than Bolton – the thorn living among them? Fortunately, this charade will soon be over.
Fighting the War in Iraq all over again (already)…

ìWhat we are watching is yet another reenactment of the endless battle between the Pentagon and the State Department.î
The number one witness against the nominee is Carl Ford who has already been caught lying about being ìmore conservative than John Bolton.î A list of his campaign contributions includes some of the most liberal Democrats and Republicans. We are also watching something else going on: an unbelievable amount of money being spent by leftist Democrats. I strongly suspect that anybody who damages Bolton is assured of obtaining a well-paid job. Isn’t it hysterically funny that our politicians passed the McCain-Feingold ìfinance reformî bill restricting our First Amendment rights, but the real bovine excrement is going on within the walls of the private foundations?
The purpose of the Left is stated clearly in the words of ACLU founder Roger Baldwin: “I am for socialism, disarmament, and ultimately for abolishing the State itself as an instrument of violence and compulsion. I seek the social ownership of property, the abolition of the propertied class, and sole control of those who produce wealth. Communism is the goal…….” The NYT is involved in the process of destroying the country, and this story does that.
Hey, Roger Baldwin sounds good…let’s bring down Soros the Speculator, Teddy the Swimmer, and Theresa Heinz-Guderian Kerry the Senator Seductress!
… let’s bring down … Theresa Heinz-Guderian Kerry the Senator Seductress!
Gee, I kind of hate to give up the “John Kerry, gigolo” meme. You sure we want to use this one?
Wouldn’t that be the old “Irresistable Farce vs Immovable Abject” argument?
I wonder exactly what they hope to accomplish?
I think Bolton will get the job. If he does not the Democrats will succeed in damaging the Bush administration in the field of foreign diplomacy at a time when we have men in harm’s way.
That just makes them look even more like foreign policy screw ups. Right now there is a lot of suspicion surrounding the UN and most Americans want someone over there that will keep those people in line.
Instead the Democrats seem to be ignoring the food for oil scandal while at the same time trying to make life easier for the UN by putting someone in there that will look the other way.
They will only succeed in reinforcing the negative opinion Americans have of the Democrats’ own foreign policy failures.
Besides the president won the election and he has a right to his cabinet. That is tradition. This is just starting to look vindictive and petty.
Bolten has been a stance critic of the Un for many years. He has appossed treaties that were not in our contries best interest. He is obviously perfect for the job!
