Sometimes I wish I didn’t get emails from MEMRI (Middle East Research Institute). They are not good for the blood pressure. But in the tradition of “blood pressure misery” loves company, here is Hezbollah’s Hassan Nasrallah (text) and Al Qaeda’s ever-popular Dr. Zawahiri (video). Nasrallah must be having blood pressure problems of his own these days.

Fox News (Yes, that dreaded unfair and unbalanced voice of the wrong) seems to be the only new source which regularly highlights translations from MEMRI.
Most of the people I know are totally unaware of what is being said in the Arab Middle East.
Perhaps Charles Rangel should be put on the MEMRI email list.
Roger:
MEMRI is such an incredible resource to get the truth about the middle east. Idiots like Rangel are willfully ignorant because the constant stream of hate from the leaders and religous heads of the middle east is open to anyone who wants the truth. I have been going to MEMRI for the last two years and the qoutes that you linked to have been repeated a thousand times from the most influential people in the middle east. These are not kooks like Eason or Ward Churchill, these hate filled rants are from the most influential people who are running the countries and the terrorist groups in that area. They do not try to hide their intentions because they know that the left will ignore them and hang on to the occasional moderate statements they utter in english and ignore their undisguised rants in arabic to destroy Israel and western civilazation.I would like to dare Charlie Rangel to read thru the archives of MEMRI and then try to say that hezzbollah is not a terrorist group.
I will pass on this for now. I know these guys are nuts and I just heard Brit Hume on Fox say that Amnesty said the women of Iraq are not any better off now than they were with Saddam. For one thing they have to suffer abuse from Americans. So that was bad enough for my blood pressure.
My ass. I would like just once for some of these self righteous dicks to back up their accusations. They did nothing for years while the Taliban and the Baathists raped and killed and terrified women and now they say women are no better off because Americans who liberated them are so abusive.
If Amnesty just shut their doors tomorrow would anyone miss them? Other than the serial killers on death row they are always defending would anyone anywhere notice they were gone?
Well maybe the folks who sell them all those land rovers.

Terrye,
I jumped from the Amnesty International SUV back in 1991 and they are still rolling down that hill, heading for the cliff with a full tank of gas.
I have done the same with the ACLU. The turning point was when I found that I didn’t agree with the snotty elitist views of the members I met at meetings. They would stand around and make fun of the Mormons here in Utah. Why the hell should I support a group most of whose members hold views I disagree with and display attitudes that piss me off?
So it goes. I wonder how the memberships of these organizations have changed over the years?
chuck:
I think the membership is made up of professional bitchers. They insist they have to have money for this and that and somehow no matter what resources they have nothing ever gets better. It all sucks all the time.
Amnesty did not support the war. Amnesty knew Saddam was a bad man. If Amnesty had their way he would still be in power. And yet Amnesty says these women who can vote are no better off and are being abused by Americans? What abuse? Is this rape? if so use the word and prove it. Kids are being used in Africa by UN peacekeepers and Amnesty is too busy trashing Marines to give a rat’s ass.
The ACLU is becoming the same thing. They don’t care about people anymore… they just want to be right all the time. And that of course means everyone else is wrong wrong wrong.
Terrye:
AI likes to stand to the side and self rightously point out how horrible the world is but they do nothing to actually change anything. I don’t have the transcripts but they probably did point out the Human Rights abuses of Afghanistan and Iraq but just like the rest of the world they were not going to do anything other then have candlelight vigils and slap each other on the back and tell each other how wonderfull they are while doing nothing to help the very people they were so concerned about. The ugly fact was that the Taliban and Saddam were not going to voluntarily give up power and had to be killed or forced out of power. But AI only believes in non violent protests. Sometimes that can work. But sometimes you have to use force and AI would rather let Milosevic, Saddam, and the Taliban continue their reigns of terror and keep their purity. They grew up on Ghandi and they would rather let tens of thousands people die then to face the hard reality that milatary force is sometimes the only answer. They are sometimes good at pointing out abuses but when it comes to solutions they usually just put on Imagine by Lennon and dream of a utopian world that will never happen.
Someone wrote a letter from Saudi Arabia about ‘honor killings’, saying that women’s bodies are just thrown into the desert where their bodies disappear.
http://www.victorhanson.com/articles/burton022005.html
The man who wrote the story saw an ‘honor killing’ in progress.
And there is nothing that I can do not really. Amnesty International, a worthy organization dedicated to writing letters to help people unlawfully imprisoned has morphed into a typical elitist lefty groupie.
I hate that I can do nothing practical about this. And I hate that I know that such killings are going on in Canada, among our Islam population, and our ruling elite doesn’t care.
Kevin and heather:
What pissed me off is that they went after the troops.
Now I know these guys are not perfect. But… they were sent to that place to do a difficult job and overall they did it very well and a lot of them are not going to back or are going to come back with pieces missing and they should not have their good names trashed by some snarky little dogooder who treats them like the red army raping their way through Europe.
