… were all called out by Bush in his speech last night with varying degrees of delicacy. I was glad to hear Egypt and Saudi Arabia finally on the list, as they should be. Does this mean we are headed for another conflagration? I doubt it. I think the dominos are starting to fall by themselves, a much better way, and agree with Gary Metz at Regime Change Iran about what our administration has in mind for the mullahs. Only the Syrians have much to worry about from direct military action and I have a suspicion the eye doctor is already walking into walls.
Conspicuously missing last night, unless I missed it, was much mention of North Korea. Are all those rumors true? Has it already imploded?

We may not have the luxury of waiting for the dominos to fall in Iran. Today the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) stated that Iran has obtained the materials and expertise necessary to make atomic bomb triggers. Specifically, NCRI alleged that Iran has acquired large quantities of polonium-210 and beryllium. These are key components of a “neutron initiator,” which is the device used to start a nuclear chain reaction. I should note that NCRI has a good track record on revealing Iran’s nuclear activities.

Thanks be to Allah and the oversight of the UN and “soft power” of the EU!
Euro-sophisticated diplomats may not have been able to put a dent in the mullah’s nuclearization program, but they’ll be able to spin their abject failure as a moral win, anyway, by telling the world that anti-Western and anti-Semitic theofascists getting nukes is a fair and fitting reaction to Israel having them.
Meanwhile, the US has Syrious business ahead. Go, Condi! (I hear she’s taking Pelosi along to help *stare down* our adversaries, in which case my money’s on Assad blinking first.)
I was glad to hear Egypt and Saudi Arabia finally on the last…
Freudian typo alert.
Dang!
Meanwhile, the US has Syrious business ahead.
Another Freudian slip, I presume?
And meanwhile, looks like Bush got a 15 percent rise in approval. Of course, that won’t last, but it’s simply stunning. Certainly leaves the Donks standing in that cloud of dust.
And do I read this correctly . . . Pelosi is going along with Condi on her trip???
LOL, Lola, lie!
No, Pelosi isn’t going with Sec. Rice. Shame, though.
Another was called out last night though not directly:
I have an idea that the Kofi-Klatch is feeling almost as blue as Baby Bashar et al this morning.
Speaking of Pelosi, if that woman gets one more facelfit her chin will be on her forehead.
You might want to add Venezuela to the list of arch-enemies. Check this out:

Regarding NK, another possibility is that it was a deliberate snub. By not mentioning Kimmie, he’s effectively said that he doesn’t think Kimmie is worth mentioning. That would be consistent with the current campaign inside NK of minimizing Kimmie.
It may be that there’s not much point concerning ourselves with NK until the collapse is complete and we know who to deal with.
Philomathean:
The whole situation concerns me, but this business of the bomb triggers sounds more ominous than it is. It’s not that hard to get hold of beryllium, and it’s not that hard to scrape up enough of a good alpha-emitter like polonium to knock neutrons out of it.
It is, fortunately, still fairly hard to get hold of enough fissile material for a bomb.
Put another way, I don’t think anyone who’s tried making the bomb so far was ever slowed by their inability to make an initiator.
The situation with Iran is becoming more and more ominious. Condi just declared, “It’s not the absence of anybody’s involvement that is keeping the Iranians from knowing what they need to do”, when asked if the US would get behind European negotiasting efforts.
I don’t see this as insignificant. This is Dr. Rice’s first trip to Europe as Secretary of State, following an olive branch extended to ‘old europe’ by President Bush.
It is clear that Rice is in Europe to discuss business and Iran is at the top of the agenda. We are no longer playing games here and I suspect things can escalate quickly from here.
