It’s not a Psy-Ops campaign. NK diplomats have reportedly stopped wearing their “Dear Leader” pins when visiting China.
Psyops directed at whom?
Personally, I thought it far more likely that at least some of the effort was designed to draw out internal dissension from within North Korea.
IF you believe that some 10% of the generals, a number of ambassadors, etc., have defected over the past two years, and IF you believe that North Korea’s food situation is in even worse shape for this winter than it has been in recent years, then it makes sense: Find internal weaknesses cracks in the facade, and eliminate them.
Might this be egged on by external psy-ops? Sure. Consider the longstanding claim that Reinhard Gehlen, head of the German intelligence services, deliberately planted documents that led to Stalin’s purging of the Red Army in the 1930s, effectively decapitating the top military leadership on the eve of war.
