Democracy Project has some disturbing links to cartoonists who may have fallen into the not-so “Tender Trap” of racism while making fun of our newly-nominated Secretary of State, including this “masterpiece” by the “highly-sophisticated” <a href=”Jeff Danziger.

  1. Your “Jeff Danziger” link is broken, Mr. Simon sir.

It works for me (it’s a pop-up). But I have been informed that the Danziger cartoon is a month old, therefore not related to Condi’s elevation to Sec’y of State. Also, it never ran anywhere. Newspapers must have realized how reprehensible it was.

  3. 3. Darleen

Remember, “the personal is the political” … therefore Condi, the moment she stepped right of center, is no longer a woman nor African-American. Leftists are incapable of racism, they are just pointing out the race/gender traitors among us.

Also, Republican Presidents are not allowed to fill their cabinents with people who share the same evil goals and visions as they do.

    /LLL justification

Roger, perhaps no paper ran Danziger despicable cartoon but he still drew it.

  5. “Leftists are incapable of racism, they are just pointing out the race/gender traitors among us.”

The Democratic party is also now a political organization too highly influenced by super rich white men. Please note that John Kerry had few, if any, black insiders. And no, Jessie Jackson doesnít count. He was mere window dressing. This is why I contend that the Democrats are finished. The Republicans are more middle class. Its millionaires are mostly modestly wealthy. Liberal extremist George Soros, however, is a billionaire many times over. He only spent a very small percentage of his vast wealth during the election. Soros isnít planning to leave the party—so that means the moderates will have to jump ship.

Identity Politics is impossible without final references to physiognomy. If the standard arguments fail to arouse the prejudices, emphasize appearance to condemn and stereotype. It’s been done before, and we all know where.

That the left would reduce Ms Rice to a cartoon is no surprise, nor is it particulary wicked in itself. But when we recognize the artist’s symbols in our own dark side, then we can safely say that something bad has been represented. And it has in this case

Despite the diversity of the president’s cabinet, Powell and Rice will always be “Uncle Tom’s” to the lunatic element of the left.

I was stunned this morning on my way to work to hear a black woman on talk radio proclaim that Condi Rice was Bush’s house negro and had slept her way to the top. The host was stunned as well.

It is a shame that african-american community, on the whole, is unwilling to treat Rice, Powell, et al as heroes instead of Al Sharpton, 50 Cent and (BLEH) R. “Yeah, she looks old enough” Kelly. Perhaps thats a reason besides “racial prejudice” to explain the high percentage of black men in jail.

  8. Condi Rice is an extremely bright and accomplished person with core values that blend nicely with American exceptionalism. I suppose it’s interesting that Condi Rice is not a white man but it hardly seems important. That liberals attack her because of her personal achivements says volumes about the moral bankruptcy of the left.

NRO pointed out that Condi’s academic mentor is Madeline Albright’s father, and that Condi spent time with Madeline in her father’s home. Now that’s wierd.

  9. ìThat liberals attack her because of her personal achivements says volumes about the moral bankruptcy of the left.î

I suspect that this is especially the case for those white liberals who live in a predominantly caucasian social milieu. A number of the blue states in the northeast are white as snow. Vermont, for instance, has about 3,000 blacks in a population of roughly 650,000. How many Afro-Americans live in Rhode Island, New Hampshire, or the more affluent areas of Connecticut? I’ve often joked that Vermont is a dream state for any Klu Klux Klaner. Its “segregation” may not be intentional—but the practical results are the same. By the way, my next door neighbor is black (I live in Houston) and there are probably more blacks within five miles of our home than the entire state of Vermont!

I got a kick from Democracy Project’s Update IV, the email from anonymous:

(excerpt) “You should also rename your blog, there is nothing Democratic about it. And let’s face it, you all are trying to make this country a Republic not a Democracy.”

Ummm…. LOL!!! I shouldn’t laugh because all too many people don’t realize that we are a Constitutional Republic and not a Democracy.

Not all the cartoons are actually rascist but all are equally and disgustingly vitriolic. They have the sophistication of the worst propaganda from the Arab world. Is this the best they can do? This morning, I had the pleasure of hearing a black woman call in to Steve Malzberg and Karen Hunter’s radio show and say that Rice was just laying in wait to take down a black man. The problem is it makes those of us living in our world want to defend Rice at all costs since they denigrate her so unfairly even if we have problems with her or disagree with the apointment (I don’t)

  14. The assault on Condi Rice is just part of the Left’s rainbow hypocrisy.

  15. These people are objectively pro-racist.

  16. 16. Almiranta

Oh, come on. Everyone knows that only whites can be racist, and only conservatives can be intolerant, vicious, sexist, blah blah blah.

I found the cartoon to be disgusting, and reeking of the worst of racist stereotyping. Which is OK, in this case, because the subject is a conservative and therefore the rules don’t apply.

The New Democratic Party is not only racist, it is sexist, anti-Semetic, and personifies the term “intolerant”. Not to mention arrogant, in its supremely arrogant posture that the rest of us are just too dim, too unsophisticated, and too unworthy to really understand what they are all about.

BUT… how many of the posters here have referred to Dr. Rice by her title? No, even we are comfortable calling her not even by her name but by a diminutive of her name, thereby playing into the perception that she is not really as qualified or deserving of our respect as, say, Dr. Kissinger was—ever hear him referred to casually as “Henry” in the press?

I suggest that we all start referring to her in a respectful manner, using her title. It will make the contrast between us and the loonies more visible, and send the message that this is a highly qualified person appointed to one of the most prestigious positions in the land precisely because of those qualifications.

Pat Oliphant has another nasty cartoon about Rice (link via Tim Graham in The Corner at NRO):

Meanwhile, The Corner itself has posted a nice photo of W kissing Condi (in a gentlemanly way, of course!): http://www.nationalreview.com/thecorner/04_11_17_corner-archive.asp#046139

    Almiranta,

I refer to President Bush as “W” or just “Bush” and I have immense respect for him. I believe most people just refer to Dr. Kissinger as “Kissinger” or “War Criminal.” I don’t think there is any disrespect involved with calling Dr. Rice “Condi”.

I assume it doesn’t surprise anyone here to see such blatant racism by the Left. The worse offense to a Leftist is a minority that does not know his or her place – the back of the Democrat bus. The viciousness of these cartoons tells us a lot about the sole of the Left. It is filled with hatred for any minority who has the audacity to actual think for himself or herself. The fact that Dr. Rice is both black and a woman just compounds the offense. You notice that it required Colin Powell to leave the Bush administration before he could regain his status as a respected minority by the Left.

So how much longer do I have to hold my breath waiting for Bill Cosby to show up … ?

These cartoons say more about their creator than their topic.

The Political Correctoids have not,as yet realised that there is a new paradigm, that they have lost, all that is left for them is to tend their wounded, bury their dead and move on.This creed has slimed its way across Western culture like some political incarnation of the Blob,it has allowed the overeducated unintelligent to stifle debate with moral outrage and personal affront. It is now time for mopping up operations, every time Correctoid transgresses they should be jumped on with the same ferocity that they used on their opponents. It is surprising hoe vulnerable these people are to their own tactics,I have tried it,a joyful experience.

As a side bar it should be pointed out that Dr Rice will have had more administrative experience by 2008 than the hapless John Kerry and Hilary Clinton put together.

I recall around April watching a Los Angeles Times panel on C-span entitled ‘Manufacturing Fear: American Culture Today’

One of the panelists was Michael Ignatieff. Answering a question Ignatieff went on a rant about Condoleezza Rice and how she “does the bidding of her masters”.

Mr. Ignatieff did catch himself saying something to the effect “that didn’t come out right”.

I didn’t hear any outcry over Mr Ignatieff’s remarks. I can only assume Ignatieff is left of center politically. So, it’s ok.

The name issue is interesting. I always assumed people preferred to Dr Rice as Condi because they couldn’t remember how to spell her name.

I remember when Margaret Thatcher was PM of the UK. Supporters of her sometimes refered to her as Maggie whereas her opponents generally called her Mrs Thatcher or just Thatcher.

I notice in the comments section of the blobs people often refer to “Dr Rice”. Generally as a mark of respect. As none of us are personally aquainted with the lady perhaps we should address her as Dr. Rice.

Incidently the lefty feminists alwasy hated Margaret Thatcher…first PM of Britain 25 years ago and not only the first PM of a major country but one of the most important female leaders ever
